The ruling was correct. NB could elect to take the ball where it lied (The 44 yd. line I think) because it didn't go 10 yds. No different than an onside kick that doesn't make it 10 yds. before being touched...Return team gets it at the spot of first touching. NB could have picked it up and ran if they wanted but that wouldn't have been a good move being surrounded by Cougars.

That was the next to shortest kickoff I've ever witnessed. #1 was a whiff by NB's Max Rodland in the late 60's that basically just rolled off the tee!
