Kirk Ferentz and Iowa win 2068 national championship

Post by The Ancient Enemy »

On some news website:

"The university of Iowa plans to reward coach Kirk Ferentz for his second Big Ten title in three years by announcing on Tuesday that his contract has been extended through 2012. Iowa expects to start the week by extending Ferentz's contract, which currently runs through 2009. School officials and Ferentz appear eager to end constant speculation that the coach is headed to either a top NFL job or a larger school, such as Penn State, where longtime coach Joe Paterno has struggled as his career winds down."

What a coach, I guess! He must be doing a heck of a lot more things right than winning football games. That's quite a load of faith that the university has in Ferentz. Hopefully this will be a pattern: every good season equals another 3 year extension. So expect Iowa to remain the present standard: "pretty good" for the next ten years, at least!
