names that will never get mention for Heisman

These are some deserving young men who are accomplishing spectacular things, but simply play at the wrong school....

Sonny Cumbie- Texas Tech (leads nation in passing with 3941 yards)
Omar Jacobs- Bowling Green (2nd passing leader, 167 rating, 3637 yards)

Jamario Thomas- North Texas (leading rusher, 6.7 yards per carry, 1709 yards)
Ryan Moats- Louisiana Tech (3 yards behind Thomas, 6.2 yards per carry)

Dante Ridgeway- Ball State (over 100 receptions, nearly 14000 yards, leading receiver)
Mike Hass- Oregon State (1274 yards receiving, second in nation)

Why are all these young men with accomplishments that are Heisman worthy getting passed over? What's even more amazing about Jamario Thomas is that he's only 195 pounds. Apparently nobody told him he wasn't big enough to be a good running back. None of these guys are from big time schools, but they are doing big time deeds. But alas, the Heisman is for the best player FROM THE BEST TEAM. Such a pity too. Who else is quietly accomplishing a whole lot in the college football world, but won't ever get consideration for the Heisman trophy?

Timmy Chang broke the NCAA passing record, fleaflicker.

Cumbie is just like Symons and Klingsbury. Tall and skinny with a cannon. That isn't generally what the NFL wants. All Symons did was break the single-season passing record.

Moats is definite draft pick, and the two receivers. Thomas is a freshman, and is only playing because Cobbs is hurt. Should be interesting next season for UNT.

Timmy Chang deserves mention too, for setting the career college record, but I just using the top yardage getters in each category. By the way, did you see the stats for Omar Jacobs. He has 36 TDs this year (yes, that many) and only 3 picks. The kid is doing great. Jamario Thomas is a freshman in for the injured Patrick Cobbs, but he's still leading the entire nation in rushing. Admittedly, Adrian Peterson, the guy from Oklahoma who's getting all the attention, is only 30 or so yards behind, but still. The point is, from year to year, only about ten teams have any shot at having a Heisman winner on them really, maybe twenty at the most. The teams vary from year to year, but they are all major conference teams that haven't lost more than 2 games. So what we are getting is the best player on the best team, rather than simply the best player.
