Re: Pitt To BCS?????
There's no way Pitt is going to win big. USF isn't a pushover, deliverance. And Pitt's defense isn't very good.

Re: Pitt To BCS?????
I hope Pitt loses next week then, so long as they or Syracuse get the BCS bid. Reason being, I want this team representing the Big East in the BCS bowl to prove themselves truly unworthy of a BCS bowl, and perhaps this will bring about some change for next year in college football so far as automatic bids go. I don't think a Big Weak team is worthy of it now, but if a 4 or 5 loss team wins the division and goes, so much the better to make everybody say, "Hey, wait a minute!"
And Hollywood, if Pitt is that bad, then just imagine how bad Boston College and your beloved Mountaineers must be. After all, they beat both of those teams, as well as Notre Dame. They've been on a roll lately. But I don't think they're worthy to be in a BCS bowl, but they are the most worthy member of the Big East.

Re: Pitt To BCS?????
How do you know Pitt won't go undefeated next year? They certainly have a lot coming back. Syracuse is also a young team. How do you know THEY won't finally get back on the level of prestige they used to have? It's not like these teams have no talent. The potential is there, as it is every year. How do you know Louisville won't go undefeated? They also have a tremendous amount of returning talent. You're going to say that the Big East doesn't deserve a BCS bid, after one season? So they were down this year. Nobody went undefeated in the ACC either, and they have TWO bids. Louisville was thisclose to beating the best team in the country this season, the Miami Hurricanes. Sure, Miami lost to UNC and then Clemson. How many players from Miami will get drafted? 10? 25? 90? Say what you want, but that team is head and shoulders above everyone else as far as talent goes. Louisville almost beat them. They scored 50 points on a Miami defense that was the best defense in the nation. Louisville's defense gets better every year. So does their recruiting classes. They have one of the most lethal offenses in the entire country, maybe second only behind Utah, and it's a close race between the two. A lot of those guys will be returning, including Brohm, who got a heck of a lot of quality playing time this season as a freshman. Louisville can beat any team in the country right now. Let them in a conference with a big-money bid and watch and see what that team does to a Texas or a Cal or a Michigan or anyone else. You've been slighting these smaller conference teams all season, fleaflicker. I assure you that the playing-level of college football is getting better and better every year. Those teams are starting to be able to compete. I-AA teams are starting to beat I-A teams. There is so much money in college football that everyone is scrambling for some of it, and it's awesome. Smaller conference teams might have been a lot "worse" than big-money teams 10 years ago, but those days are very over. I'm not saying Southern Mississippi is going to win the national championship in Conference USA, but those teams get better every year. Give them a chance. Give the Big East 3 years to build up to the level of the other conferences. You're out of your mind if you think recruiting classes aren't going to pick up for the Big East teams whenever they have an automatic BCS bid. Give them 3 seasons.

Re: Pitt To BCS?????
Suppose Colorado beats Oklahoma, highly unlikely but stranger things have happened. Will the Big 12 lose their BCS bid next year because a team with 4 losses gets the bid?

Re: Pitt To BCS?????
Sure, Pitt could go undefeated next year, but so could any other team for that matter. And if Pitt does go undefeated next year, they'll probably be able to snag a BCS bid, whether the Big East still has one or not, because all the sportswriters will have them on top of the polls just like with Utah. And also, they'll be in the top 12, possibly the top 6, and either next year or the year after, a non BCS conference team will only have to be in the top 12 to get an automatic bid.
But if the BCS is about championship caliber teams playing one another, then nobody from the Big East deserves it this year. Sure, maybe that will change next year or the year after, but I wouldn't mind something done right now to undermine this whole Bull Crap Series formula, such as a 4 loss Pitt team playing an undefeated Utah (and getting the heck beat out of them), or a Syracuse playing Virginia Tech or Miami from the ACC and getting beaten into next week. Because the more undermined the BCS is, the more clamoring there will be for a playoff system, and the more likely, and perhaps sooner, we will get a playoff to determine the true national championship.

Re: Pitt To BCS?????
i'm sure pitt will beat south florida. but i hope pitt does'nt become an example of big east mediocrity. but i've been surprised by pitt this year they keep getting better and better each week. they only returned one offensive statre from last year so they are doing well. the backyard brawl was a classic.!

Re: Pitt To BCS?????
Pitt didn't quit Thursday night and do have to agree they are getting better each week. Honestly I think WVU sorta got hosed on a 3 and long play which kept the game winning drive alive (as much as I hate to admit it).
