Wonder if PSU would have any interest in either...maybe one could be named the next in line??? Doubt it, but these two are pretty solid coaches.

I can't believe Willingham didn't get more time to turn this program around. I guess with a school like Notre Dame, they don't give you time to turn a program around. I can imagine this is going to upset some people.

i think ND is caught up in the urban meyer hype. ty W is a good guy and deserved a chance to finish out his contract. he will make a fine coach at another school.
davis and williamham will not be considered for the psu job IMO. bradley is the in house option and ferentz is the out of house option.

I'll tell ya what's even more interesting... the fact that Meyer also wants to coach at Michigan and Lloyd Carr is rumored to be leaving after this season for health reasons.

Re: Butch Davis and Tyrone Willingham available...
Meyer has an exit clause in his contract taht says he can leave to coach at Ohio St., Michigan, or Notre Dame....so that means that the Irish might have a chance....and I feel the reason that Ty Willingham was fired is becuase these big boosters for the program and the students themselves feel that Notre Dame wouldn't be Notre Dame without the football...They aren't gonna put all this money in for a guy that just doesn't seem like he is going to take the team over the top...I mean Meyer had two years to start from scratch and he has an undefeated team and Ty Willingham has had 3 and is struggling week in and week out...

The winner ain't always the one with the fastest car....it's the one who refuses to lose!

Re: Butch Davis and Tyrone Willingham available...
Notre Dame and Utah play totally different teams.
Did Utah's coach Meyer recruit all these juniors and seniors or inherit them? IF he was there two years...all these older kids aren't kids that he recruited so he wasn't working from scratch. Has he done a very good job? Yeah, but if you don't get anything when you get there then you will have a rough time doing anything.
Willingham did great before ND too...ND has one of the toughest schedules in the nation and they weren't doing all that well for the few years before Ty got there.
