Here's an interesting comment made by our buddy Nitro-Ranger
Anyone that goes to the Westy gym:
The other night I along with maybe 70 or 80 hardy Ranger fans trekked up the hill to Westmont to watch the game against the Hilltoppers. Nothing unusual about that except there were only maybe 40 or 50 Westy fans. Nothing unusual about that either, except when you have the returning D#6 (AA) champions, and have had a local 'powerhouse' the past 5-6 years, you would think the team would have had better support. Now the kicker. As we stood in line outside the gym doors to get tickets, as we got close to the booth there was a sign that said ADULT TICKETS $ 5. What?!? Are you kidding me? I thought I was at a PIAA playoff game at IUP or some such venue. UPJ only charges $4 for its home game ADULT tickets. Then I thought again, maybe I'm in the wrong place and this is either Bish. McCort or Bish. Carroll, as out of necessity (?) they always charge more than any other local school for admission. Heh-heh! Then I saw the disclaimer on the ticket window: The reason given for the price- jacking was due to increased travel costs of the Westy teams. IT WAS THEIR HOME GAME! WE were the ones that traveled to get there! Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong: ALL repeat ALL school districts must submit bids for line items into the school budget for items such as FUEL for the busses. These contracts are in place well ahead of time probably even before the school is back in session after summer. Are the people on the Westy school board the same people on Johnstown town council that just enacted the 10-to-52 dollar job tax increase? Probably untrue, but you see where thoughts like this go. FIVE bucks to see your team play at Westy. ALL LOCAL SUPPORTERS OF THEIR TEAMS PLAYING UP IN WESTMONT CONSIDER YOURSELVES FOREWARNED- Take out a home equity loan or plan to not put food on your table for a week if you plan to go there. Think the home crowd was skimpy the other night? No wonder. The students probably went home from school and told the parents about the increase and the parents decided Jr. needed braces more than to see a hoops game. Remember, Hilltoppers, what goes around......

Inflation hits high school basketball! Five bucks is probably acceptable. Protest by not buying a 50-50 ticket. The disclaimer is a little amusing. Other schools will likely follow Westmont's lead. Way back in 1986 I suugested raising the price of admission to parties in college from $2 to $3. The complaining was great but the standard admission became $3.
& another reply by me (THE CHOPS).
I paid $5.00 tonight to go to the PennState / Fayette Campus near Connellsville & Uniontown, Pa., to watch Brownsville Falcons play The Frazier Comadores, & the night cap game was, Southmoreland Scotties playing Geibel Catholic Gators.
These where all boys games too. I guess it was a tip-off type tournament, & that's what the prise was. Hmmm !!!! Yea it's starting to even get steep with the high school venues.
The tough thing about this is, (IF) your a junkie (LIKE ME), that goes to four or five games a week,on the average, like I do. It can ring up one heck of a tab. Whew !!!
Just this last week, I went to ten (10) basketball games in seven days time. If this price gouging keeps on going,& I'm sure it will. I'm going to have to stay home. Or maybe be more selective in who I go see play.
