Blairsville over Greensburg Central Catholic
Congrats to Blairsville on a huge triple OT win 98-90 over GCC; they had to battle from behind all night as they fell behind by around 15 in the first quarter but managed to sqeak out the win. This early season victory on the road will benefit them big time and help them immensely in the A playoffs.

im sayin blairsville will streak undefeated to playoffs with their toughest team other than GCC would be westmont, maybe the hilltoppers can stop the phenomenal highberger... but playoffs are a whole different atmosphere, although they are still favorites to win

Yes ! A great win. A good stepping stone to take considering that G.C.C. was ranked in the top ten in the W.P.I.A.L. lists. If you notice though, G.C.C. is slipping week to week in their top ten lists. This loss may set them out of the top ten in next weeks list.
& this is "NOT" to take anything away from B-Villes win last night.
Take a look at what I mean:
W.P.I.A.L. CLASS (AA):
1) Beaver Falls Tigers (3-0)
(Last Week #4)
2) North Catholic Trojans (3-0)
(Last Week Unranked)
3) Aliquippa Quips (1-2)
(Last Week #1)
4) Jeannette Jayhawks (1-1)
(Last Week #2)
5) Farrell Steelers (1-1)
(Last Week #3)
6) Washington Little Prexies (2-0)
(Last Week #6)
7) Wilkinsburg Tigers (2-0)
(Last Week #8)
8) Freeport Yellowjackets (2-1)
(Last Week #5)
9) Greensburg Central Catholic Centurions (2-1)
(Last Week #7)
10) Burrell Buccaneers (2-0)
(Last Week Unranked)
Out of MSA Sports Top 10 from last week - South Fayette Lions, Shady Side Academy Indians

hcf...I just meant that it will prepare them for the district playoffs which I think they are probably going to make...the state playoffs IF they make it that far. Going out of your way to play some tough competition during the season usually helps you down the road.
Four of msa's top 10 in AA are in GCC's section so a loss like this could send them on a downward spiral but with four starters returning from last year they should be able to get it together.

We can get extremely excited about this early season win, but let's see how the Bobcats play through an entire season. They have speed and amazing guards, but if they run into someone who is a powerful forward that can use the glass I feel the bobcats will crumble. The town of Blairsville is rejoicing, this could be the Bobcats year! The problem with playing in the Heritage Conference is that you do not play good competition, twenty win seasons are great but will the Bobcats strength of schedule hurt them? In the end I think it will, even though they are fast for an area team, every team is as fast as them in the state playoffs.

The thing about Blv is that their starting (7) are all Juniors and are all football players. They know how to win and this will help them tremendoulsy. There are no one sport specialists as is very common today.

Re: Blairsville over Greensburg Central Catholic
GCC is an OK AA team, nothing spectacular, but a decent team...but I'd like to see how Blairsville would fare against the WPIAL's best in class A like Vincentian or Sewickley.
Sounds like Blairsville is the early favorite in District 6-A.
BTW, I have been hearing about this Highberger kid now for about 8 years...How good is he??? I may need to make a trip to catch Blairsville in a holiday tourney to see what all the fuss is about.
