Re: New England 28 Miami 29
Forgive me. I now understand it's absolutely ludicrous to think that a team like the Colts, Jets, Chargers, or Ravens could possibly beat the Steelers in a divisional round playoff game at Heinz field. I mean with all that playoff experience the Steelers have and a rookie quarterback, not to mention the fact that have blown out every team on their schedule so far.....how could they possibly be beaten? It's nice to have 70,000 fans on your side, but they don't throw any blocks, make any tackles or catch any passes.
Seriously, I'm just saying don't get ahead of yourselves. Home field advantage is not an automatic ticket to the Super Bowl.
And....just for the record....I'm not a Browns fan.

Do they throw blocks, no, do they cause mishaps on the offensive side of the ball, yes. I didn't say homefield is an automatic ticket to the superbowl, I just said it is nice to have, would you rather play 300 miles away from your home town, or right where you feel the most comfortable. Blowing out teams doesn't matter man, a W is a W. keep getting W's, you are the best, simple. There are no style points, win by 40, win by 1, you still win... Rookie QB, bettered by who? NONE, I'll take him over Carson Palmer any day... I love Steeler haters with thier panties in a bunch. Here's some help, calm down, reach under, and tug toward the ground, and realize that they aren't that bad of a team...
Ok, my bad, Cincinatti.

they were actually discussing that and some steelers mentioned that they didn't want the home field advantage...when they're on the road there is only the game to focus on, at home you have family and friends there for you to worry about

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.

First of all, Carson Palmer isn't a rookie. Secondly, why are you even bringing up Cinci? They aren't a playoff contender this year. Are you making another assumption that they are my favorite team? If so, you are now 0 for 2.
The Steelers are a very good team. Having home field is a plus, but I just don't think it's that big of a deal, especially this year in a loaded AFC.
Roethlisberger has had an excellent rookie season. As far as QB's who will be in the playoffs, I'd rather have Manning or Brady.

eh, 0 for 2, 13-1, Whatever. If there was a reason for homefield being so important it would be because the AFC is loaded this year man. The playing field will be level throughout the entire playoff if you compare teams to teams, but having homefield is vital, if it wasn't such a big deal, why wouldn't they just flip a coin and decide monday before the games? I think you are the only person in the world that thinks that homefield advantage(funny how they call it that) is just a nice thing to have, I'd definately like to play in Bedford opposed to traveling to Forest Hills to play in a playoff game. The same applies for the NFL, just on a bigger scale, a much bigger scale.

From an article on steelerslive.com
But here's why it's important not to travel in the postseason:
1. Cowher never has won a playoff game on the road in three tries.
2. Home teams have won 25 of all 38 AFC Championship games.
3. Road teams are 14-36 in the playoffs in the past five years.

Hey Ham whats wrong with being a Bengal fan??? Its always easier to like a winner. Anyhow homefield would be big for the Steelers I wouldnt like their chances in New England. Although New England and Pittsburgh both play in the cold and snowy conditions so homefield wont help the Steelers as much against the Patriots.

I've been a Steelers fan as long as I have lived, so if you're questioning that TheEvent, watch were you step.
Snowy and cold and windy, what it will be exactly. The thing of it is the location, no travel time, and the fan base. It's much easier to rise to the occasion when you have 70,000 people backing you opposed to having 70,000 on your back. Peyton won't have much trouble no matter where he goes, he can still wing the football the best in the NFL, the question is, will the recievers be able to handle his hot pass's on such a cold and miserable day, to the best of my knowledge, they haven't played in COLD situations yet this year. It should be interesting as to what happens here in the next 2 weeks and beyond in the NFL.

Why would you think that home field isn't all it is cracked up to be? Home team has won 11 of the 17 AFC championship games. That is almost 70%. Steelers will play the starters some even if Buffalo is meaningless unless they are resting some nagging injuries they will play for about 1 half just so they do not get rusty
