AncientEnemy.......you must know something I don't know. You are assuming that Wannstedt will hire Paul Rhoads as defensive coordinator. That has yet to be determined. The only coach I know for sure that is returning is Bob Junko.

Well, considering that Pitt has one of the simplest defenses in I-A, I'd say it's time to bring in some new ideas.

Simple defenses can often get you 8 wins. Simple offenses can't.

They also get you losses to exceptional teams like Nebraska, UCONN, and Syracuse, not to mention close calls against powerhouses Furman and Temple. But hey, what do I know? I always thought it was a novel concept to keep teams from scoring too many points, but that's a stupid idea I guess. Better promote that guy to head coach, he's clearly done a heck of a job. 5 losses, 4 losses, 50 losses.

Hey, who has the best defense in the country as of Wednesday?

What good does it do to have a tremendous defense and lose most of your games? Am I missing the big picture here? But what do I know.

Hey, if you look at it like this, 50% of the game is offense and 50% is defense. We're halfway to a national championship. We're already halfway there why stop now?

Seriously, PSU fans are happy about that defense and they don't even understand why. Well, I'll tell you. Because it shows that Tom Bradley has his act together. He's the heir apparent at Penn State. In 5 years, he has the defense back to where Sandusky had it. That's a really good thing for Penn State. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel, and if it takes 5 more years for the offensive to get to the point of the defense, won't it all be worth it? Just like that Bill Murray movie, "baby steps, baby steps". We just need Paterno to at least give Hall a CHANCE to run the offense for a season. How much worse could they be?

People need to realize how good they have it. People showed up at Beaver Stadium and expected PSU to win all the time like they did previously. Going through these "bad" years, you learn to appreciate things real quick.

The light at the end of the tunnel........may be an oncoming train!!!! You remember trains. They were popular in 1936, along with radio.

I don't "remember" 1936. Not all of us are 80 year old men, here! Hey I'd hang on to the past too if I was still hoping for a rebound of those 1930's Pitt attendance figures.

"Ah the good old days... when you could go to a game and see the Panthers alongside 200 of your Pitt brethren. And I also miss all the coal soot in my throat when I went to the games downtown."

Yeah everyone went to those games! You, Fran, and Titan. First and only Pitt sell-out: 3. But even THEY were tricked into buying a ticket to see Pitt vs. DuBois Comunity College of Drunks.

Pitt ended up losing that one 50-6 because all they did was send ONE GUY blitzing and the Pitt coach had a mental breakdown and threw his arms in the air, with no ideas how to stop the rush.

I can just see the headlines when you 3 have your reunion this year in Pittsburgh: "Three Ninety Year Old Men Ejected for Chanting Penn State Sucks at Pitt - WVU Tennis Match".
