HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL Area players having impact at Juniata

HUNTINGDON - Four former area girls basketball standouts are working to help Juniata College improve on this season's 3-6 record.

Junior Lesley Snoby, a 5-foot-8 forward is from Greater Johnstown and 5-6 sophomore guard Jeny Killen is from Bishop Carroll.


Former Huskies teammate Ali Meckey, a 5-7 freshman guard and Ferndale's Jill Walsh, a 5-6 freshman guard, are also part of the Eagles roster.

Snoby, a captain for the squad, is averaging 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 points per game.

Killen is averaging 3.1 points and 3.1 points per game, including scoring eight points and pulling down eight rebounds against York.

Meckey is averaging 5.2 points per game and Walsh, 4.2.

Allen making a mark for Fighting Irish

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - PIAA Class (A) girls basketball player of the year, Charel Allen of Monessen, is making an impact with No.# 6 Notre Dame.

A 5-foot-11 freshman guard with the Irish, Allen scored eight points, including going 6-of-8 from the free-throw line, and dished out a pair of assists in 24 minutes of action in Sunday's 54-33 victory over Seton Hall in the Big East opener for Notre Dame.

Allen, who played against Bishop Carroll in last year's Western Final, scored a season-high 14 points in Notre Dame's 65-39 win Dec. 9 against Dayton.
