NOTES: Funny how this whole "open tournament" thing is working out, especially in Class (AAA). The whole emphasis behind moving to an open tourney was to allow any team .500 or better a chance at postseason glory, because in previous years the District #3 power rating would determine which "16" teams filled out the bracket. Decent teams would be stranded at home.
Well, guess what's happening. As of today, there are only "15" teams in Class (AAA) with records of .500 or better. That means the No.#16 seed, a.k.a. Steel-High's feed bag, would be plucked from the sub-.500 pool. There would be no pigtail games. Strange, huh? By the way, if you're counting, there are "20" teams at .500 or better in Class (AAAA).
As for the rankings, we say hello to first-timer Lower Dauphin in Class (AAAA) (narrowly edging 13-5 York High for the fifth spot) and welcome back a slew of others: Central Dauphin in (AAAA), Eastern York in (AAA), Lancaster Catholic in (AA), and CSY and Camp Hill in (A). There were big changes in Class (A), thanks to CSY's triumph over Lancaster Christian and York Country Day (14-2) getting stung by Harrisburg Christian (7-9).
Ready to jump into the top five, if we have any slip-ups this week, are red-hot Palmyra (10-7) in (AAA), Kutztown (14-4) in (AA), and Lebanon Catholic (6-11) in (A).
