Gibbs greater than Belichick
I have been getting tired of hearing all of the talk about Belichick being the greatest coach of all time. He has basically won with one team and one QB. Jimmy Johnson did the same with Dallas, turning a 1-15 team into a Super Bowl champ, but he is not even in the conversation. Bill Walsh did the same with SF, as did Noll with Pittsburgh.
However, Gibbs won 3 Super Bowls in 9 years with three very different Redskin teams. He won with 3 QBs (Thiesman, Williams, and Rypien), 3 different RBs (Riggins, Rogers/Smith, and Byner). The three Super Bowls were also spread out 83, 88, and 92. Although I would not call the Redskins a dynasty, I think Gibbs coaching jobs were greater because he was able to win the Super Bowl with three very different teams. Has any other coach done that? I think Parcells is the only one who has come close.

How good of a coach is Gibbs now, though? Has he seen his better days? He didn't have a terrible team this year. However, they did end up with a terrible record. Maybe in the past he was a better coach, but definitely not now.

Re: Gibbs greater than Belichick
He was with the team for one year, and they had one of the best defenses in the NFL. Their offense will come around. If Gibbs does take this Redskins team to the Super Bowl and win, can there be any doubt that he is the greatest coach of all time?
