Steelton-Highspire gets first boy's berth since 2000; Oakland Catholic girls in title game again

(AP) — Oakland Catholic advanced to the P.I.A.A. Class (AAAA) girls basketball title game for the fifth time in sixth years Tuesday, by beating Altoona 45-41.
Meanwhile, Steelton-Highspire (31-3) earned its first boys Class (AAA) title berth since 2000, by beating Oxford 68-62 in (overtime).
The winners of Tuesday's four semifinal games will play Friday at the Giant Center in Hershey for the championships of their respective classes.
Oakland Catholic (30-2), which won P.I.A.A. championships in 2001 and 2003, were led by Aysha Jones who scored 18 points, while Erica Prosser added 10 points. Altoona was led by Rachel Gehret and Kristy Little, who had 15 and 14 points, respectively.
Steelton-Highspire rallied from a three-point deficit to its game at 58, then outscored Oxford 10-4 in the (overtime). Tristan Crawford led top-ranked Steelton-Highspire with 26 points, while Tremayne Hawthorne and Sean Alexander each added 14 points. Ryan Bogan led Oxford with 24 points.
Oakland Catholic will face unranked Cheltenham in Friday's 6 p.m. game.
Cheltenham (26-6), the fifth place finisher from District #1, earned its first trip to the finals since 2000 with a 58-47 victory over Downingtown East. Antonia Gale led Cheltenham with 27 points, which included 13 of 15 shots from the foul line. Emma Moretzsohn led Downingtown East with 19 points.
Steelton-Highspire will face unranked Johnstown in the 8 p.m. game. Johnstown (28-3) earned its title berth with a 47-46 victory over unranked Erie Strong Vincent (23-8). Kurt Hoffman led Johnstown with 14 points, while Aireon Jefferson had 10. David Blanks and Maurice Williams each tallied 10 points for Strong Vincent.
In Class boys action, Kennedy Catholic (25-5) earned its fifth title berth in eight years with a 61-59 (over-time) victory over Blairsville (29-2). David Jackson led Kennedy Christian with 18 points, while Blair Rosenblad added 14. Blairsville's Adam Highberger led all scorers with 22 points.
Kennedy Catholic will face defending champion Bishop O'Reilly in a 3 p.m. game.
Bishop O'Reilly (28-4) earned its second consecutive title berth with a 90-50 victory over Lebanon Catholic (16-15). Tim Crossin led Bishop O'Reilly with 27 points, while Josh Aciukewicz added 21. Zach Hoover, Randy Pierre, and Andrew O'Donnell each scored 13 points for Lebanon Catholic.
In Class (AA) girls, two-time defending champion Delone Catholic (31-3) earned a third consecutive trip to the title game with a 43-39 win over Trinity. The game was a rematch of the District #3 title game, which Trinity won.
Kim Staub led Delone Catholic with 15 points, while Meredith Cox added 14. Gina Nazzaro led Trinity with 10 points.
Delone Catholic will face Westmont Hilltop (30-2) in the 1 p.m. championship game.
Westmont Hilltop advanced with a 46-40 win over Greensburg Central Catholic (23-7). Kelly Britcher led Westmont Hilltop with 18 points, while Ashley Henderson led Greensburg Central with 13.
