Coaching changes are taking place again ...
Coaching Changes - Kiski Area and Avella Football ....
3/23/2005 -
One takes over a program that has tasted recent success on the football field in Class (AAAA), the other takes over at a Class (A) school that has experienced very little success over the last three decades.
Chris Heater has been named the new football coach of the Kiski Area Cavaliers, while Travis Miller takes over as the head football coach of the Avella Eagles.
Heater becomes the second coach to take over for Dave Grimm, who retired after last season as coach at Kiski Area.
Back in December, Don Holl was named the new football coach for the Cavaliers, however he resigned in January so he could stay close to his ailing father in Erie. Last month, Holl was named the new coach at Erie Cathedral Prep.
Heater is very familiar with the Cavaliers program, serving as an assitant coach the last 12 years.
Heater has also been involved in the highly successful Kiski Area wrestling program, and hopes to carry some of the Cavaliers mat success over to the gridiron.
The school board at Kiski Area also named Ryan Berberich as the schools new athletic director, taking over for Harry Orbin who is set to retire in July.
Miller takes over an Eagles program that is coming off a winless 0-10 season in 2004, and is 1-19 over the past two years.
