Sideling Hill Soccer Programs

Post by crazyplayer »

I am looking for opinions on what program has been the best in the past 3 years in the league , as we all know most schools that are small in size which is all of them in this league run in cycles.
They have about 2-3 good years and then some down years.
I am going to list the records of the last 3 years and district playoff success and see how each team rates.
McConnellsburg 36 wins 20 losses 1 tie and has lost in 1st round 3 years in a row
Forbes Road 36 wins 18 losses 3 ties has lost in 1st round 2 times and lost in overtime in semifinals
Hyndman 36 wins 28 losses and 1 tie has lost in 1st round 2 times and 1st round in states 1 time and lost in d5 title game
NBC 22 wins 38 losses 1 tie lost in 1st round 1 time and lost in semifinals 1 time
Fannett Metal 20 wins 35 losses 1tie lost in 1st round 2 times
Chestnut Ridge 16 wins 37 losses and 2 ties no district games
Everett 5 wins 55 losses no district games

Some records such as Everett NBC and Ridge i guessed at a little but im very close on them , so which team has the best recent history.
You could make a case for Hyndman,Forbes , McConnellsburg , and now this past year NBC.

Forbes and McConnellsburg have had the best programs. It is tough to differentiate between the two because they have shared the past three league championships. I think McConnellsburg will continue to be very good again next year. Forbes faces some major rebuilding, but I expect them to remain competitive and return to D5 playoffs.

Over the past three years id say McConnellsburg has been the most successfull because they always seem to find players and put together a quality team. Forbes is a close second only because of the talent theyve had in there last two senior classes. Next would be NBC with an excellent season last year and a very decent season the year before. In fourth would be Hyndman and in a close fifth FM who has put together some decent teams with some quality players but has never really been consistent.Next would be Ridge and lastly Everet.

I agree with you TarHeel on McConnellsburg putting together quality teams , but over the past 3 years i would have to say Forbes has been the better program.
Forbes and McConnellsburg have played each other 6 times with Forbes winning 5 out of those 6 games.
I also think the coaching between the two schools gives Forbes an advantage as well for the past 3 seasons , but Forbes is in for a major rebuilding that might take 3-4 years to recover from.

Hey Count more food for thought those schools Forbes,McConnellsburg, and Hyndman are 3 of the smallest schools in the district.
Forbes has only about 120 kids 9th thru 12th,Hyndman has about 100 kids 9th thru 12th, and McConnellsburg has about 180 kids 9th thru 12th grade , so none of them are near big enough to support both football and soccer.

i realize that... but i'm sure that there are a lot of athletes on the teams that would play football should the school have it

McBurg is always tough, year in and year out. I put Hyndman next because they were very good when they were winning a few years back. I begrudgingly put Forbes Road next. I say this because their field is square with trees growing on the sideline, so I think this gives them somewhat of an unfair advantage - plus I am still not over losing on that god forsaken field. NBC is next because of the way they finished out last year. The rest should fall into place after that

I agree Hyndman has been tough in the past , but this covers the past 3 years and Hyndman was never able to get the league title while Forbes and McConnellsburg have been right there neck and neck battling for it , so i would say that makes those two the top two in the league.
For your info Forbes at times plays better away from home than at home because they do look to spread the field and that field takes away from it , so i would say Hyndman would be 3rd and i would put Forbes just slightly ahead of Burg because of the fact they have won 5 out of their last 6 games against them losing only 1 time to them and by the way that loss was at Forbes home field.
