Review of tourney predictions

Post by fleaflicker »

Well, this is now where I will review where I went wrong this year, and what I got right. I had Illinois and Louisville in the Final Four, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. I had Villanova as an upset over UNC to go all the way to the final. And in the Austin region, I had UK, which couldn't quite pull it out in double OT against Michigan State.

Illinois- I was right on having them in the final and pulling this stuff out, but I had them winning too, which was a bit off....

Villanova- I was way off in picking them to go to the final, but not by much. They lost to UNC by one point missing their second leading scorer and with a very questionable last second traveling call when they had the ball down by one with a few seconds left. I was right about how dangerous they would be. Unfortunately, their loss to UNC cost me winning my pool at work.

Duike- Off by one round. I had them losing in the Elite Eight to UK, but they didn't get past the round of 16.

UNC- I was way off again, as not only did they beat Villanova, but they also beat Illinois in the final. Certainly the popular pick to win it all, but it was right this year.

Michigan State- Way off. They didn't lose to Old Dominion in the first round, nor did they lose in the second or third or even the fourth round....

Wisconsin- I was right about this. I saw UConn and Kansas losing to this team, as they just didn't have it, and I had them going to the Elite Eight and losing. Of course, Kansas and UConn couldn't even advance to meet this dangerous team.

West Virginia- Did anybody really see this coming? I had Wake in the round of 8, losing to Louisville.

Louisville- Dead on. Going to the Final Four and losing to the Illini.

Arizona- Elite Eight lost to Illinois, just like my bracket, though they needed to come unglued in a hurry to not make it to the Final Four.

UK- Had them beating Duke. No Duke in the Elite Eight, No UK in the Final Four

Those are my hits and misses as far as the Elite Eight (and beyond) goes for this year's edition of March Madness. But in the end, it wasn't madness at all, as UNC and Illinois, the top two overall seeds took to the court for the final, and UNC, the favorite, won it all.

So fess up. Where were you right and wrong on the bracket this year?

I was right on UW Milwalkee making the sweet 16,bucknell beating kansas, vermont beating syracuse and WVU beating Wake, however all my final four teams were off by a few rounds, all losing in the Sweet 16.
