Clarette going in the first day, huge surprise. Other than that, nothing really outta the normal. Maybe just the fact that Rogers fell as far as he did...

There were a few surprises for me. First, I was surprised that Heath Miller fell to the Steelers. I also thought that Aaron Rodgers would go before 24, and that Jason Campbell wouldn't go in the first round.
Maurice Clarett going on the first day surprised me as well as Eric Shelton of Louisville going in the second round.
However, perhaps the biggest surprise are those that are still undrafted. Jason White, Timmy Chang, and Gino Guidaligne are all QBs that are still looking for home. One won a Heisman, one holds the NCAA record for passing yards, and the other holds his school record for passing yards. None of them were considered, though I thought Jason White and Chang would go on day 2.

Also, Hawthorne, a defensive lineman from Wisconsin, was once a first round prospect, but he didn't go until the sixth round. Apparently he had a bad workout and tested positive for smoking pot.

pittsburgh got a couple guys who went later than predicted. that should be a good thing.

Chang was a shame, Gino was not drafted soley because he has been Cincy's qb for 23 years and obviously the league doesnt have a senior citizen's bracket. People said for 2 years now that White wouldnt be drafted so that's no big suprise to me.

The shocker for me is St Louis had 2 picks in a row late in the second round, and took a qb from HARVARD! I have never heard of him, so he might be alright, but i find it hard to believe he's better than the Hawaiian Heart Throb: Timmy Chang. The man was born to throw the ball downfield, you'd think Martz would be all over that with a late round pick..

I think Chang wasn't drafted because he was a bit slight for his position, and at times his skill was questionable as well. He may have set the NCAA record for passing yards, but he also set the NCAA record for interceptions. So that's why I don't think he was drafted.

Jason White is still a surprise to me somewhat, and he was projected to go in the later rounds. He may have had questionable arm strength and such, but still, with a former Heisman winner, you'd think somebody would be willing to take a chance in the seventh rounds, at least with one of their compensation picks. Heck, if I'm St. Louis late in the seventh round, I'm thrilled that Jason White is still there.

His knees are bad and he is not a good quarterback. His Heisman win was a joke.

White is less of a joke than Timmy Chang, in my opinion. Yes, Chang is your 'sacred cow', but he is a system QB. How much did Hawaii ever run the ball? White, on the other hand, led Oklahoma to a national title game-- twice. The first time he did it was the year he won the Heisman. The second time he did it him and a freshman running back on his team were in Heisman contention. Has a Hawaii running back ever been up for any awards recently? Or is he just a benchwarmer?

My point is that White was on a team that was successful at both running and passing the ball, against good competition on a consistent basis throughout the season. Chang was a QB on a team that could hardly make a bowl, and while he did have the most passing yards in NCAA history, I doubt he could have had much of a chance anyplace else. At Oklahoma or USC, Chang may very well have been a benchwarmer.

So White is a better QB than you think, and Chang isn't as a good a QB as you like to think. So what if Jason's knees are a little bad? A QB's job is to throw the ball. If he has halfway decent line protection, he should be alright. Besides, it's not like Timmy Chang can throw the ball either.

With the two of them, you have the same basic pocket passer. With one, you have a system QB that put up huge numbers but is a big risk. With another, you have a Heisman winner that put up solid numbers on a good team, but has some health issues. Who will be more successful? I'll take Jason White. I think he has good intangibles as well.
