Christians Do It Again

Post by The Ancient Enemy »

My friend back home relatively recently sent Your Literary Hero a wonderful picture that was proudly displayed in the Tribune Democrat recently. Yes, even back in Pennsylvania and not the zealot hotbed of Texas, we have people who take it upon themselves to simulate the agony and torture of Jesus Christ's horrible death. To simulate these horrible conditions, many people carry huge wooden crosses along highways so everyone sees how religious the carrier truly is, and to give a reminder, because there are 4 second gaps between the constant Christian barrage, that Jesus died for us and we need to think about that ALL 24 hours of every day. The man in the photo is from Croyle Township, which is no stretch of the imagination. He is dressed just like Jesus was: in a huge jacket, sneakers, a baseball cap, and jeans. I'm sure the elements were what prompted him to wear the big coat, just like the elements had everything to do with Jesus's garb before he was crucified. A baseball cap really is the equivalent to a crown of thorns, especially if it's of a team you don't like. Despite all of this, the fact remains that Mr. Croyle Township 2005 still carried his huge cross in tribute to Jesus. Only problem was that there were wheels on the cross.

A few years ago I said something mildly snide about such crossmobiles and nearly had my head chewed off. Now in some third world villages around the world I know they don't simulate -- they duplicate -- everything except the final spear in the side and the breaking of the legs of those being crucified. Bet that'd get a good turnout along the local Via Dolorosa

Hmmmmm. Symbolism over substance! Sounds remarkably like a Liberal left-wing conspiracy to me!

Oh course. When in doubt, turn left.

Here's a 1st quarter score just in from the Coliseum: Lions 7, Christians 0.

Gonna be a sad day for a hell of a lot of people when "evil" finally takes over the world and nobody shows up to save them. You people better rethink that "meek will inherit the earth" stuff.

Hey, I'll play for the Lions. That's fine. I like underdogs anyway, that's why I have a crush on Conference USA.
