Bedford county allstar track team members.

Post by usatf oldguy »

Since our friends at the gazette haven't caught up with the mirror and started publishing an allstar team for bedford county, lets start our own right here on bleacher coaches. Pick 3 per event boys and girls and see how everyone picks.Maybe with some prodding the paper may pick up on the idea. OLDGUY

I'll start with boys and girls long jump and post a new one every so often. I think the boys are D. Harris Bedford, C.Mock CR, and M.Stapleton NBC.With possible Way or Claycomb from CR in there for a shot at the top 3. I believe all these gentlemen went over the 20' mark at some point this season. On the girls side I like K. Henderson Bedford, A. Whetstone CR, and S. Meyers Tussey as my top 3. All of these ladies approached 16' through out the season and have won or placed high at some big meets. These picks are in no particular order just the 3 I like best. Now how about everyone else?

I would go about it different selecting 15 specialists and 5 all-around or utility to form a 20 person all-star team.

My all-star selections for Boys:

Sprinters: Shane Fox, Bedford; Duff, Bedford
Hurdlers: Troy Harris, Bedford; Keenan Drenning, TM
Mid-Distance: Donaldson, TM; Showalter, CR
Distance: Snyder, E; Mitchell, TM; Garlock, Bed
Jumpers: Mock, CR; Way, CR; Stapleton, NB
Throws: Henderson, CR; Dibert, Bed.
PV: T.Young, CR (Hey, he won the big one)

All-Around : D.Harris, Bed.; J.Marshall, Bed; M. Young, Bed; Daou, Bed; Obie Clark, CR

Hon. Ment: Lightner, Bed; Shaffron, NB; B.Horton, NB; Neuder, TM; Boyer, CR; Tomovich, CR; T.Hoover, NB; Melius, TM. *Seems like I might be missing 1 or 2 sprinter/mid-distance people from Ridge who are deserving...names escape me right now*

Jerod Gordon could be a sprinter had he not injured himself. However, Nate Myer did well in his place.

Here are my other jump picks, girls first. HJ Young Bed, Wertz CR,Durr EVT.In the triple jump,Henderson Bed,Whetstone CR,Cunningham CR. The polevault, Hoover NBC,Meyer CR,Short Bed(the one that went 8').On the boys side in the HJ I see Way CR,Tomovich CR,Stapleton NBC. In the triple I like JA Marshal Bed, Shaffron NBC, and Mock CR. The Polevault I think is a no Brainer with Young Bed, Young CR and Hoover NBC. Any way Thats the rest of my jumper picks I'll have to sort through the rest of the info for my other picks and post them later.Hey HR put a little pressure on the local paper to come up with a format for this subject I think it would make good reading.
