Lilly drops to 2-4 with a loss to St. Micheals... good pitchin by myers for a No No. The second thrown agaisnt lilly's ,most of the times, quiet bats. but havin to rely on kids that usually dont pitch was another weakness. But all in all, it was nice talkin to all the St. Mikes players on second base!
Good Luck and well c ya again

Somerset takes loss #2 by the Saints, 11-1. Hr's by Jake Oswalt, Dan Myers (winning pitcher), and Ronnie Klein, I said Ronnie Klein! It was suggested by one of my co-fans that it possibly was the first HR he has ever hit in any level of competition. Well, what a great time to do it! Congrats to all the Saints who had a hand in the win.

Just wondering: Doesn't anyone else have pride in their teams from around the league? I don't mind posting about St. Michael, even if a couple meatheads think I'm blowing my own horn, but it would make for better balance if we could read more about Meyersdale, Claysburg,Stoystown, Spangler, Nanty-Glo, Portage, Lilly-Loretto, CV-Johnstown, Westy-Ferndale, Richland-Windber, Patton, Stoystown, Somerset, Bedford, Ebensburg, and anyone else I might be missing.

Lilly is at .500 (5-5) with a win over westy 2nite. Ryan wetzel hits a bomb to the deepest part of lilly (out pretty much every where else in the world) and scores the tying and go ahead run in the 7th. Adam Watt picks up the win. Good game for comming back after a 5-0 deficit in the first inning.

Lilly plays Bedford tomorrow at lilly.

Thanks, versital4- I really appreciate your help on this thread. St. Michael downed Meyersdale last night, 10-6, in a game in which we actually struggled for a couple innings. We were losing 3-1 going into the bottom half of the 3rd, scratched out a few hits and runs, and soon we were up 10-3, but after the original pitcher, Broc Jennings, was removed after 6 inn., Meyersdale found the range against Lichleiter, scoring 3, but Mehall came in to throw some heat past the Meyersdale last batter to preserve the win.

hey anytime pale, Lilly wins its 4th straight 2nite over bedford. Doug Plunkett went 1-1 with a bb, 2HBP, and 2 Runs scored. Corey leahey had 2 big hits to score runs (not sure on the numbers for him tho). Matt Rhodes picks up the win for LL. Rhodes was looking electric in the first few innings. Good game to all the bedford players and good luck the rest of the way!

versital,

The last Lilly legion team to make the playoffs was 1987.aaAs a matter of fact, I am sure that was the last Lilly Legion team to finish above .500.

That Lilly team finished 13-8 in regular season (3rd place). Then, they went 1-2 in the playoffs, upsetting the #2 seed in the double elim playoffs before losing to #1 and #4. That team was led by the Cambria/Somerset Legion League MVP that year, switch hitting SS/P Matt Martynuska, who hit around .470 with 5 dingers and 35 RBI in 24 games and was 8-3 on the mound with 2 saves and an ERA of 2.00. Wasn't a hard thrower, so he could go out there and pitch on just 2-3 days rest. The league played MLB rules back then, so pitchers could run out there every day.

What made that Lilly team even more impressive is that they drew ONLY from Lilly and Washington Township and easily had the smallest area in the league to draw from (they didn't even get Cassandra!) In comparison, Cresson had their own team and drew from the rest of the PC school district (Cresson, Gallitzin, Loretto...the whole way out to Chest Springs, Ashville, Dysart, Dean, Frugality, etc.) and Lilly beat them 3 times. Lilly and Martynuska were also the only team to beat former minor league pitcher (I believe he made it to mid-level class A baseball) Ernie Peterman from Nanty-Glo that year.
