Shocker, a gram of weed is not even as big as a quarter. The police could have just as easily said, "this isn't even worth us arresting them."

Obviously they broke the law, I think they deserve to be punished, but I also think you need to look at priors. There are ZERO. 3 game suspension is pretty standard for 98% of college football problems. What do you think they should get?

You can't kick them off the team, dude. It's not rape, its not murder, its not even cocaine. Yes, it is illegal, they should be punsihed and have been (and will be punished by the law as well) but are we really going to argue that one gram of marijuana is not a far cry from coke or heroin? Come on.

God have mercy on a society who chops people's heads off based on allegations, or before there is a trial. So how much money have you donated to McCain, Shocker?

That's right, TAE, Joepa and the boys doing it the right way. I am so blind! I guess now all kids will think it is OK to smoke or be in possession of a 'small' amount of weed. Good message to tell our youth. Its okay to have a small amount, even it is smaller than a quarter.

Never mind the punishment they did or didnt get. It s the message you send to the young kids who look up to them. They think gee it must be okay to have a little weed. I dont give a crap about their punishment. I do care that role models are acting this way. But from reading TAE and a few others posts, I see you guys idolize psu and other college athletes so much that a little weed is okay....especially if it happens at psu. Which is kinda sad that grown men actually idolize college athletes.
The only statement that made good sense TAE was that I do support McCain. Why wouldnt I....have you seen his VP?? Well maybe you have not, you prob are too busy idolizing psu fball players.

I have a poli-sci degree, Shocker, and I also learned long ago to never try and argue politics on a message board. I also learned that what I personally feel is justice is not how the real world works.

You need to seperate yourself from what you feel is the right answer, Shocker. In this college football world, players get 3 game suspensions unless they cut someone's arms off. That's reality. A 3-game suspension for something that has NOT gone to trial, seems to me pretty good. What if they go to trial and nothing comes of it? You kicked a kid off the team last year based solely on an allegation. How can you justify this? He ended up not even doing it, Shocker. You have to be fair, you have to seperate your own beliefs from this.

Be realistic. This is not about me condoning what they did, or me "setting a bad example". They will be punished. They sat out 1/4 of the year already BEFORE going to trial.

lets set aside the punishment or lack of punishments argument. lets say I am okay with the 3 game suspension. You and alot of others are acting like this is no big deal. There are a lot of young kids who look up to these guys. What do you tell them?? It is okay to possess a "little weed". I dont care what the punishment is or if they are convicted or accused. They got caught with the weed. It was in their dorm. What do you tell a small kid who each week is rooting for these guys? That is the only thing I am argueing. Even if they were not smoking it, they had it in their own apartment. That was wrong, regardless of convictions..accusations or whatever other excuse you want.

I guess you could take the "high" road and tell your son it was for medicinal purposes.

I really think you missed what I was getting at. I do not agree with the lifting of suspensions but my main gripe is that it was wrong and some look at it like they were jaywalking.

Its a big deal, but at the same time its not. Its hard for me to pull away from the reality of the way this is all going to play out. Do I think its a shame they got nailed? Obviously,a nd its their own stupidity that got them caught, and theur own stupidity to have the weed in the first place. But we all know how it ends. They get a 3 game suspension and the play in 9 games. You can't kick them off the team for it.

My sticking point is "no prior situations" with these 2. Obviously it sets a bad example to the kids who look up to them, I completely agree, but this is a first time offense. Is having weed a crime? yes. Should they be punished? Yes. What else can you do but sit them a few games?

Why doesn't PSU kick them off the team for a year? Maybe some rehab would do them some good. Pitt did it to Elijah Fields last year.

Rehab? Titan, marijuana addicts grow their own weed. Marijuana addicts have a BAG of weed. They don't get caught with a gram!!! And marijuana addicts also SELL marijuana.

Seriously, i know you guys aren't PSU fans, but you think 2 Pitt players with no priors deserve team dismissal? To be perfectly honest with you, they should have gotten way worse suspensions for that fight.

Besides, weed makes you mellow. That's another reason i dont want my defense smoking it!!!

Shocker, can you honestly answer to me how many fathers tonight are explaining to their child why Abe Koroma and Maurice Evans (the child's "role model") smoked a small amount of the happy weed. The answer would be zero. Have you ever went to college, high school, or even jr. high school? More students posess weed then textbooks. I am not saying it is ok to smoke weed but I am not going to say it is ok to drive without your seatbelt on, either. Maybe I will feel different someday but for now I am in college just like these guys and understand how it could happen. Should they be suspended? yes. Was the punishment fair, yes? End of story.
