LV doesn't have the parking when they have a big Heritage game. They hosted Central Martinsburg last season in the D6 Playoffs, and they brought a good crowd over....Many people had to stand around the track. For big games they will allow people on the track. I imagine you will see a good number of people standing.

If the weather cooperates, I would expect a very large turnout especially since it is Ligonier Valley's homecoming. I'll be over with a few friends. We're going to come over early in the afternoon and scout out some parking spots. A few people in another post were kind enough to give me some eatery suggestions. I'm really looking forward to the trip. As i said before, Fort Hill fans have always been a dedicated lot.

Do FH and Allegany still play on Saturday afternoons? And does the entire town still go all out for this game? Just remember it being at great atmosphere.

Hello to everyone on here. Nice board guys. It's about an hour drive for us. Everyone seems to be friendly on here which is a nice change.

Here is a clip from our homecoming.

Yes,Fort Hill vs. Allegany has been the Homecoming game since 1975. It is played at Greenway Avenue Stadium which seats around 6,000 with room for several thousand more on the hills. These days I guess the average crowd would be around 8,000 or so. I think the record was 15,000 in 1994. Prior to that it was on Thanksgivng Day.

Tell me. Is the school named after a fort or after a hill?. You now, like Fort Ligonier OR like Culp's Hill? In the school name, is Fort a noun or an adjective?

I was just checking out your site and Greenway Avenue Stadium is beautiful. That looks like a great atmosphere for high school football. Reminds me a lot of the style of minor league baseball parks you see, quaint and quirky.

We are extremely blessed with our setup. Lots of tradition and travel well with huge fan base. It has decreased some since I was a kid.

El-Moldo,

From Wikipedia: A discussion ensued concerning the naming of the new school. Suggested names were Queen City High School, Potomac High School, Fort and Hill High School and Fort Hill High School. According to official reports, the Board of Education of Allegany County unanimously decided upon the name Fort Hill High School on August 12, 1936. The "Fort" reference was derived from a Civil War skirmish at Nave's Crossroad often referred to as the Battle of Folck's Mill. The high ground above the mill was fortified by Union troops against Confederate forces.

Why isn't Fort Hill playing a normal schedule this year?
