Re: Are there any kids at McCort from Richland
Ramfan I agree Bailey has improved A LOT as a coach over the past few seasons, and I think what he was able to learn from those three, especially the veteran two, has a lot to do with that. Also yes those three are making a lot more than they did at McCort, I know that for a fact. But please don't get me wrong that is in no way a knock on Bailey and the outstanding job he has done at Richland, or on those three for leaving when you have a family to look after you have to make the financial decision that makes the most sense. However as someone who is both a St. Benedict's and McCort alum it is depressing to see St. Benedict's School fall, athletically, the way it has because of Richland.

I don't think Richland ever supplied many kids to Bishop McCort via St. Benedict's. I would bet most of the kids who go to St. Benedict's live in Stonycreek Township. St. Benedict's probably also draws kids from Windber, Lorain Borough and even Conemaugh Township (Cambria County).

Knowitall, just as a reference, my graduating class had 8 football players from St. Benedict's. 2 of us lived in Windber, 2 in Belmont, the other 4 Richland School District. Also looked at my 8th grade yearbook, over half of the kids I graduated 8th grade with lived in Richland School District. Bennies does draw a decent amount of kids from places like Windber, Lorain, and Stonycreek though.

did not know that Manfred, thought it was Jtown, then in that case 6 of 8 of the Benedict's players in my graduating class lived in Richalnd School District.

Not all of "Belmont" is part of the Richland SD. The line for Johnstown is somewhere back Belmont St near Krings Ave.
As far as Westmont is concerned, I was just saying that a kid from OMOS isn't going to look over at the Hilltop and think the grass is greener than down on Osborne St and decide to jump ship. A kid from Bennies might do just that when looking at Richland.
To answer your question Manfred, WH gets a minuscule amount of state funding. The Hilltoppers won't be putting in turf, lights, or a new press box anytime soon. The MS needs replaced (about 100 years old) and there won't be a state of the art weight room or community center for the athletes or public to use like some other local districts in the next budget. At the same time, the district works as one of the most efficient in the state (491 out of 500 in per pupil spending) while maintaining excellent test scores.

Re: Are there any kids at McCort from Richland
The line is Krings street. One side of the street is Johnstown the other is Richland. On the opposite side of Belmont st and Krings st intersection is Johnstown up to Ohio street. Then it cuts over to the road that Fi- Hoffs is on. Not sure wher the line goes from there because I know both sides of that street are Johnstown back there. I think it is the Oakland and Geistown borders. Anyway most of Belmont is Johnstown.

Not true. Kids I graduated with from Johnstown lived in Belmont.Manfred wrote:Belmont is and always was inside the Richland school district.

So, in other words, the actual line delineating the border of Richland and Johnstown is as vague as the actual borders for BMCHS.
It ain't over until it's over.

then down the street is Lorain, and they go to Ferndale.
This town makes so much sense.
