Just a note for you Sports999, a wrestler can only move up one weight above what he has weighed in at. I also saw that someone said the match occured at 135. I just assumed Jake weighed in at 130 then. But just in case you didn't know, there ya go.

I'd put my money on Strayer everytime. He's just to tough and very well conditioned.

for those who didn't see the match, here is the real story. neither could take the other down. jake started the second period in the down position, sal went optional and instead of standing and facing sal, jake spun on his knees and took sal down[ fantastic move catching sal off guard] score 2-0 going into the third period. sal; took down and in my opinion a controversial call occurred when sal was given a 1 point escape when he was not entirely free of jake. jake immediatly fell back on top of sal and was given 2 for a takedown. sal later escaped to set the final at 4-2. this is not domination in my humble opinion. if the controversial escape had not occurred the score would have been 2-0 in the third and if sal reverses we might have had overtime. i give all the credit to jake, but to say jake would beat sal 8 out of ten times is not looking at the facts objectively. these are two evenly matched wrestlers in my humble opinion who have done this area proud in their steller careers

a simple score cannot dictate whether someone was dominated or not. if jake did get the takedown in the manner you said he did (which is a amazing move), then obvioulsy he rode out such a quality wrestler for most of the match. if you cant escape, you are being dominated in my opinion, as the bottom postion is the easiest one to score from.

I don't think that they are evenly matched and certainly think that weight played a factor here. Also, I really think that if Sal is gonna medal as high as he wants this year, he has got to buckle down and ride people. He won't be able to beat everyone on their feet.

4-him,i'm surprised you would say they are not evenly matched. I watched that match and also the district 5 finals last year.In my humble opinion you were more dominant over sal than jake was in the sense that you scored more legitimate points against sal. If you take away the 2 point controversial reversal the final should have been 2-1 in favor of jake.Look what happened at states.sal dominated you if one just looked at the score.in my humble opinion you two were evenly matched, one day you win, the next he does.I do agree with you about sal's riding ability. That has been his achilles heel and kept him from finishing higher at states. My point of the post was that jake did not dominate sal and if they wrestled again things might be different. I never down graded jake.I think he is a great wrestler and have enjoyed watching him over the last 4 years.I believe he would beat scott if they wrestled again and expect jake to win states again this year. sal might not win states but if he places that will be his third medal. How many wrestlers can say they won medals three times in the state of Pa.

sounds like this match between lascari and strayer would have been a great one to see. i planned on going to see it but i was unable to attend at the last minute. jake and sal have been wrestlers that i have enjoyed watching during the past years and they should place very high this year at Hershey if they continue to work hard.
