Re: GJSD Boys Basketball Probation
I know that the sports reporters from the Democrap and other newspapers monitor this site. What say ye about the failure of our hometown "community" (whatever that is anymore) newspaper to report on this story?
The fact that the boys basketball program at the biggest high school in the county has been put on probation is not news? That is a disgrace.

I said this before the Tribune Democrat is in the back pocket of GJSD. I think if you have any news that should be reported it’s probably better to reach out to the Altoona Mirror. I know they rarely cover Cambria County but they still do have some honorable journalism with the Mirror. They may do some investigating reporting on that school district since the local paper is not willing or allowed to.
That school has went down hill fast. Drugs, Murders, Shootings, kids bringing guns to school. How there is no changes going on at that school is beyond me. If any other school had the issues they had on the basketball court this year the whole staff from Jr high to varsity would be gone. At GJSD it is just a sweep under the rug and keep our friends hired situation.

There isn't a postseason ban is there? So the assistant principal has to sit behind the bench for the season? Interesting probation.
Wonder what Clairton football has to do this season.

I’m sure if Clairton was on probation or in risk of being withheld from playoffs the Gazette would report it. TribDem were you at??????

Re: GJSD Boys Basketball Probation
From what I got is GJSD will be on probation and then before the postseason D6 will review game logs from the entire season and determine whether or not they will be permitted to play in the postseason. I'm guessing once incident and no playoffs type thing.
Speaking of bashing Johnstown, how about the kid in the newspaper today? assaulted a kid in class, kid the doors open, left school, ran out in traffic and started yelling at motorists, went back to the school and was banging on the windows threatening to kill staff. Example #12904 of why people stay on the hills and don't go downtown after 5 pm. It's just not worth it.

Re: GJSD Boys Basketball Probation
They have real serious problems down there and I am sure the staff and administration are doing their best. The thing that is concerning is that it seems to be getting worse. It goes way beyond hoops. But how does one coach a team in such a situation - where kids have no respect for authority (or in some cases do not even understand the concept of respect) and do not show for practices. That's some tough duty down there. An almost impossible task.
Maybe the Democrap simply does not want to throw gas on the fire. So they ignore this for their buddies. It's not right but, as they say, this is Johnstown.
The longer I stay in this town the less I recognize the place. The traditional working class ethics, integrity, and character that made this place great continue to deteriorate.

It is clear that change is desperately needed from top to bottom. Sad thing unless things like this gets reported then how does the public know all the details. Oh that’s right they used all their staff to cover the hiring of a volunteer assistant coach. SMH

Re: GJSD Boys Basketball Probation
Hmmmm... I wonder if the "administration" who will attend all of these games next year to "supervise" the players, coaches and fans will be the same "administrators" who attended the games this past year?? I mean geez, the principal, 9th grade principal, AD, athletic trainer and assistant football coach are game regulars and they must have missed all the fun last year. But it sounds like they now recognize their "issues" and will work to fix them. I wonder when they figured out that they had "issues"? Oh, thats right, it's when D6 dropped the hammer on them. No "issues" prior to that obviously. And hey let's not forget, 9 of the 14 tech fouls took place in the last two games, so it's ok, no worries, right? You guys in "administration" make sure you get to those games early next year, get a good seat, wouldn't want to miss any action.
Re: GJSD Boys Basketball Probation
The Trojans made a coaching change this season. Did the prior coach have similar problems?
Re: GJSD Boys Basketball Probation
If he didn't, then maybe he was part of the "problem".
It ain't over until it's over.
