Couple reason why this list is a joke
1.  Every other list has been out for weeks.
2. You have two BC kids listed , there were no players on that team that aged well enough to be mentioned on any type of all area team.
3. Why in the world do you have the same kids listed at multiple positions, ie offense and defense.  Talk about every one getting a trophy.
4. Forest hills is covered by the Mirror, but no players selected even as honorable mention.

1. Fair enough. I try to do a thorough job, and would rather do that and finish it two weeks later than usual than try to rush through it when people are on vacation and away for the holidays and we can't get kids to the Mirror for the photo, but it's a valid criticism.
2. You sometimes have good players on bad teams. And you are trying to measure across classifications and leagues. Northern Cambria and Juniata Valley had good seasons, but they lost in almost identical fashions to Bishop Guilfoyle as Carroll did. So did none of those playoff teams have all-stars, either?
3. Fair question. I tend to think that if a player is good enough to be an all-star at more than one position, they deserve to at least be mentioned at the other positions. Mountain League had many players are multiple positions -- Alex Hoenstine made it at four spots. It's subjective. If you did a team and chose to only put players at one position, I wouldn't have an issue with it. It's just how you do it.
4. We covered Meadville's Journey Brown for a game this season, we covered Juniata's Josh Parson for three. But none of those schools nor Forest Hills are actually a full-fledged member of our coverage area. I've explained Forest Hills' place in our coverage in another thread. Again, it's fair to ask this, but no, while we cover many Forest Hills games, Forest Hills isn't part of our coverage area.

I'm just glad for the Mirror's coverage of the Rangers in their pre-season BLITZ magazine. Too bad that anything like that in the Johnstown area is just a dream. The Mirror sets a HIGH bar in all sports. As a Ranger fan I wish we were a part of their coverage.

The Trib isn't a a glossy magazine, but they have a pretty lengthy preview section that comes out the Sunday before the season.

We do one of those, too, Crimson. The Blitz magazine is done well before the season. The Mirror football preview tabloid comes out a couple of days before the first game. Last year's was 64 pages, all high school -- we do our pro and college tabs separately these days.

We do more of a huge factbox on the team that includes probable starters along with rosters, schedules and a big overview of the teams. Most papers do stories that focus on the teams' aspirations for the year and who will be starting where.

I loved those tabs when I was growing up. I collected most of the District 6 area papers' tabs (and still have them) going back to the late 1970s and early 1980s. One year I went kind of berserk and called basically every paper from Massachusetts to Indiana and a few other football hotbeds to see how they did their previews.

Why and how did Alex Hoenstine make first team punter?  He made 3 other teams. Central probably punted 5 times all year and that takes away from somebody more deserving who punted 30 plus times and had a decent avg.

Well that was how the league coaches voted so I'd assume that's how they saw it. He punted 27 times.
