This would be my ranking heading into this season:
1.Central Cambria
2.BG
3.Johnstown
4.McCort
5.Cambria Heights
6.Forest Hills
7.Richland
8.Bedford
9.Somerset
10.Westmont
11.Penn Cambria
12.Bishop Carroll

But I honestly think 6-10 could go in any order, lots of even teams in the middle this year.

Heard he is working second team QB for the time being. I'm sure he'll be involved.

Gotta give the home team some love. They'll fit in somewhere. But I do think the rest is close. I think Heights is going to be a sleeper for most this year.

He is backing up Walters in the backfield and playing linebacker on defense.

Saw scrimmage today I'm looking at Jtown 6-4 or 7-3

Unless they're significantly better with Barber at QB, I would move them below McCort, Heights, and maybe Forest Hills

Picks
Section I
1. Bishop Guilfoyle - Some new faces, but still a lot of experience of off last year's state title team. Could win a 4th straight state title this year.

2. Forest Hills - Aftre three straight 5-6 seasons, I think the Rangers take the next step and become a factor in the D6-AAA race behind Cecere and Long, the best QB-WR duo in the league.

3. Cambria Heights - After starting 0-4 last year, Heights showed improvement down the stretch.  They only lost 5 seniors from last year's team, they should continue to get better.

4. Central Cambria - New face at head coach with Shane McGregor. They have a long way to go to improve on their 1-9 year last season, but having an experienced quarterback in Justin Bezek should help.

5. Penn Cambria - Legendary coach John Franco is in charge now, and he'll be tasked with almost a total rebuild. They lose a lot of key players from a team that went 4-6 last year.

6. Bishop Carroll - Huskies also have a new coach in Sean Billings. He'll be up against it numbers wise, with just 29 kids out for football. BC hasn't won a game since 2014, and are in the midst of 1-29 stretch over the past three years.

Section II
1. Johnstown - The Trojans had a banner year with a AAAA sub-region championship and advanced to the state quarterfinals. They return versatile quarterback Austin Barber to lead the offense, and wrecking ball nose tackle Shamar Jones to anchor the defense.

2. Bishop McCort - McCort's rushing attack should be among the best in the conference and district with veterans Anthony Walters and Carnell Andrews leading the way.

3. Westmont - Westmont is coming off back to back 7 win seasons.  Pat Barron has done a really nice job turning Westmont into a consistent playoff contender.  Camden Moors is a really good running back that will have a big year.

4. Bedford - The Bisons return Davis Kline at QB off a 6-6 team last year.  They'll have their fair share of new starters, but they'll be a solid football team.

5. Richland - I think Richland will win more than 3 football game this season.  The Rams were young last year and return a lot of promising young talent.

6. Somerset - The Golden Eagles may be picked last in Section II, but they won't be a pushover, they have some good athletes including Ryan Funa.
I agree with your assessment of section I with the possible upset of maybe BC being better than PC this year if BC is healthy. PC lost a lot and is in transition and BC looks to be a bit stronger than they have been of late (maybe I just like the under dog). BG could be a contender in AA, AAA as well as the favorite in A this year.
Section II is a complete toss up to me. Any of these teams could show up or let down. Jtown and McCort of course are the favorites, but I'm leaning toward McCort if Walters is healthy. Should be a fun year.
Let's get that Fearless forecast started Crimson. Should be a good year.

It's great that week one is upon us and the pigskin will be in the air in less than 24 hours. I find the football forecast to be pretty accurate with my thinking as well. As reading through the Johnstown Penn Cambria post one thing sticks out to me is that penn Cambria seems to be struggling this season with numbers as well as performance on the field. I understand the scrimmage was a huge disappointment that Bedford put six maybe seven TDs on the Panthers. That brings me to my point of you hear so much about how coaches make a great team, but if you have a legendary coach like John Franco why can't you just win them all regardless of the players. Being and avid football fan and high school football fanatic I do believe that John Franco left Altoona with a crumbling team in the 90s was brought back by a group of Players in the late 90s and early 2000's while Franco was winning state titles with the Jimmy's and Joe's at Tyrone. He returned back to Altoona to leave the program in shambles again and goes to Saint Joe's for what may be the money? And then on to Penn Cambria were his friend and principal jim Abbott brings him into the picture. It's also my understanding that there was numerous people who applied for the position at Penn Cambria including two highly qualified previous staff members who we're never granted an interview! It seems like they just shoed Franco in the door maybe that's the way high school sports work these days. Or maybe it is the way politics work? Maybe I am wrong with my insight on this matter. The Trojans head coach who appears to be a classy guy will have to hold the Trojans off from a big shutout in panther territory.
I do believe that the Bedford BG game could turn into being a real physical football game Saturday night at mansion Park. Don't underestimate Bedford they seem to always have a good group of kids who never quit.
Forest hills could be a high scoring team this year with the likes of the a quarterback running back combo. Keep an eye on the rangers!
