i'm making a stand. marty did not do the wrong thing by running the ball 3 straight times in overtime to set up that FG. ladanian tomlinson is the best player the chargers have and marty decided to put the game in his hands. he did not want to run play action for fear that brees could get sacked or picked off. even a holding call would have put them out of reasonable fg range. holding calls are more common on a pass play than a run up the middle. i agree that marty has been a bum when it comes to coaching in the playoffs and in no way do i feel that he was the coach of the year, but i do think that giving the ball to LT 3 straight times to set up a fg for a very solid kicker was the call. he went by the book, doubled down on 11 vs. the dealer's six...he got a five and the dealer drew 18.

as for the steelers vs. jets, its a tough pick. this feels like one of those games that the obvious best team in the league gets knocked off by a regular season underacheiver. i can't pick the jets tho. i love herm edwards. he is my fav. coach in the nfl. i like pennington too, but the steelers have just been methodical all year. unless the jets can completely shut down the steelers running game, i pick the steelers by a TD. the difference between cowher's playoff past and this year's run is that he now has a reliable qb. before he had maddox and neil odonnell and KORDELL  losing playoff games, but i dont see ramenburgher costing the steelers this win.

HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO.

Roethlisberger will impress all his career, we could very well be looking at the best quarterback the NFL will ever see.... I have a feeling that this playoff season will write his book for him, I know, one season doesn't make or break a player, but this season is the Steelers, if they don't win the SuperBowl, it will be a severe underachievement. Hopefully all the things fall in place and the Black and Gold are left standing alone....

am i picking the steelers to win the super bowl? boy, i dont think i can do that. i just dont think i can make any picks for the super bowl. the nfl confuses me. i never know what is going to happen.

except when the colts play against denver, i think we all saw that coming.

if i HAD to pick a team to win the super bowl, i would pick the steelers. it seems that they are on one of those rolls right now. they beat the bills w/ their second string when the bills had everything to play for and the steelers had nothing to play for. every week the steelers impressed more and more.

they have the best defense, a strong running game, and a qb that can win the game if he has to. you go down the checklist and look for weaknesses w/ the steelers and you just don't see any. their corners scare me, yet b/c of lebeau's scheme, no qb has had a chance to test them to the limit.

but then...

there are 2 teams left in the playoffs which i think steeler fans should be scared of, the colts and the falcons. peyton manning is unconcious right now. he could surely test the corners of the steelers. his line is the best pass blocking line in the league. the heinz field playing surface would be a huge factor if that game happened.

also, michael vick can take one single game over like no other player in the league. IMO, it will take an incredible individual performance by one player to beat the steelers. i don't see the steelers beating themselves this year.

this is the nfl tho.

Ham lets not start throwing those "best ever" labels out there yet. This guy has got along way to go until you can mention him with the Montana's, Marino's and such. 10-15 years from now we can discuss this but not yet.

Now about the game...

Since I will be at this game... for free I might add... there is nothing that would make me happier then to watch 65,000 ppl walk out of Heinz Field after a Steelers loss. I know the Steelers are a better team... I know they will more then likely win and prob rather easily but I can still hope. In order for the Jets to win they will have to shut down the Steelers running game and make Ben beat them with his arm... which to my knowledge he has never really had to do. The Jets must also play mistake free football... limiting their penalties and turnovers and also making a big play or two on special teams wouldn't hurt. All in all I'm just hoping for a good game to watch... watchin one team be up 35-3 at the half just wouldn't be much fun at all.

no bashing intended, but bill parcells might have slightly more credibility than you, ham. although, you are free to say what you want. just expect some backlash when you do say it.

I just got back from the future. You'll never believe what I read in the headlines: "EBAY CRASHES AND BURNS". That's right, the article went on to explain exactly what happened: Apparently, all 500 million people in western PA that jumped on the Steelers bandwagon all made a mad scramble to get on Ebay as soon as possible and sell their BIG BEN jersey collections after he went one and done as an NFL quarterback. In fact, so many Steeler "fans" were logged on to the net at once that it almost sunk the entire internet into oblivion.

Also in that daily edition was another startling article: "CONEMAUGH HOSPITAL BUYS EARTH". That's right, Conemaugh Hospital made so much money from all the broken ankles in the Johnstown area caused by jumping off a moving bandwagon that they were able to actually purchase the entire planet. Plans are for all lawsuits to be dismissed because, well, Conemaugh Hospital owns the law, and for everything to be painted teal and white.
