Sigh, I really didn't want to argue here. Moldo, like always, seems to be insisting on it though.
Moldo, so you are saying that God, who by the New Testament, is supposed to be caring, just, and fair who loves all of his children equally--that is--infinitely is unfair.
I never did understand why this country has so many Old Testament Christians in it. Seriously, why are they pushing for the Ten Commandments? They should be pushing to get the Beatitudes onto the courthouses. I also like how most people if asked, don't even know what the Beatitudes are. This boggles me, as the Beatitudes are Jesus's values, which we, as Christians, are supposed to attempt to emulate.
Why is it that most elementary school children can name off most of the ten commandments and not even know what the Beatitudes are?
Moldo, I'm not going to argue with you about purgatory. Get someone that still calls themselves Catholic to explain it in detail to you. I will tell you it is nothing like the Mormons'.

As for me, I think I might become a Pastafarianist. In their version of Heaven, they have a stripper factory and a beer volcano.
Also, they believe that global warming is a direct cause of a lack of pirates! I was concidering become a pirate anyway, so this works even better. Not only would my full time job be to rape and pillage the coasts, I would be helping stop global warming!
On the note of Pirates, I can't wait until September the 19th.

The difference (at least to me) on the 10 Commandments vs the Beatitudes is that the Commandments are rules for us to live by. Would you not agree that if society followed these rules, we would all be much happier? The Beatitudes on the other hand are examples of how Jesus lived his live and how we should try to live ours.
We've had our differences on here, but I trully do hope you find the answers to your questions. They aren't always easy to answer. Sometimes it takes a life changing event to help folks come to the answers to these types of questions. I know I'm not much help here though.
St. Matthew's gospel on the Beatitudes is probably my favorite.

What did I say in my last post that provoked argument??? To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Is this not true if you are a believer? Is the Lord in purgatory? Why did he say to the thief on the cross, today thou shalt be with me in Paradise? None of this is for argument sake. I just can't find a reference to purgatory in the 66 books of the Bible. You would think such a major concept would be there, right? ...Like LionPride said, the commandments are COMMANDMENTS.....And is God caring, just and fair? It's the "just" part that we should all be worried about.

Don't get so hung up on making your life right that you miss the boat. The 1st thing you need to do is get your life right with Christ. The beautitudes are great examples of Christ likeness, but apart from Christ are impossible. Christ first, and then He will clean you up. We were created in the image of God, but the first thing He ask's of us is that we come to him totally and unconditionally giving our life to Him, because He gave His for us!!! If you are a Bible believing Christian there is no place in the Bible called purgatory, (a holding place to go until your family buys you into Heaven) give me a break. Amen, El-moldo, the Bible clearly states to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Don't get hung up on trivial stuff Pass.

There also is nothing in the Bible to say that Christ ever laughed or passed a fart. I guess he never did then.

Not to pick an argument, but after all, the Bible that we all know and love did not float down from Heaven, rather it was (and is) recognized as the Bible because the Church said so. So on one hand the teachings of the Catholic Church are rebuked, but on the other, the very book the we celebrate as being the word of God came to us because the Fathers of the Church deemed it as so.

The Bible also says that it is the "COMPLETE" Word of God, so nothing can be added to or taken away from His Word.

The Bible was written by "inspiration" from God". Plus there is an old phrase "The Bible, the whole Bible, and nothing but the Bible". You can't just believe parts of it and disregard the rest. I would think that if there is a purgatory, it would be somewhere in the 66 books of the Bible.

I assume you keep saying 66 books of the Bible realizing that the Catholic Bible has 11 more books. I do not know if purgatory is part of those books. I think we've had this argument on here before.
