Archbishop Moeller is the 4th ranked team in Ohio, Greater Johnstown is the 216th ranked team in Pennsylvania. I'll be interested to see where he goes as well.

He was introduced this afternoon as "School and Community Coordinator". What does THAT mean? Did they make up a position for him? Or did he replace a previous school and community coordinator (which I never heard of). So the Johnstown district is too poor for the kids to pay for their own lunches, but they have money to give an assistant football coach a job?

I have nothing against Artrell Hawkins Jr and sincerely hope that he can do work with the young people in the Johnstown area. However, I have to wonder why are our newspaper and tv stations in Johnstown making such a huge fuss over a volunteer assistant coach and what essentially, as described in the article in the Tribune this morning, is a subcontractor to the school district? Why is there a press conference? There are many, many more things that happen in the school districts in Western PA that deserve much more coverage than this? Can someone help me understand the, in my opinion, "unjustified fanfare" surrounding this?

For the same reasons that Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian are "famous" and TMZ is so popular. It's all about celebrity and train wrecks.

I, too, just don't understand all the hoopla over his return.

I don't understand why people don't understand the hoopla on his return. It seems pretty normal to me given an ex-NFL player returning to town and deciding to coach. There's typically a press conference when a Joe-schmo gets hired.

There's a difference between a press conference, and something being blown WAY OUT of proportion. When Marabito left FH as an assistant a few weeks ago and took the head coaching job at United, where was all the commotion? And as far as moving on to coach at a public school, what's the difference who's the coach. Kids just can't change from one public school to another. But when a coach takes over at a private school, there are ALL kinds of implications associated with a move like that.
