D6Guru wrote:Congrats for making the team. I will not criticize you or your team, I think it's great that our local players move on. I just hope you complete your career because so many quit.

As for recruiting, please explain Green and Julock. Green went to Blacklick his whole life until 9th grade. Zamboni even turned BC in for recruiting, but Papa Sponsky knows too many people. What about Wadley, Rugg, and Merriman at McCort Do you think it's fair for these great players just to leave their home district and go to a Catholic school. Why can't Blacklick just get kids from Central Cambria? Is it fair? Imagine all the Nanty Glo players staying at home. Most didn't even attend parachiol elementary schools.

As bad as most have an agenda against BC, you have one against Portage. So we are both the pot calling the kettle black. But, you have to be sour. Your senior season at BC was one of the worst. Add to that your home school has great back to back seasons. I can understand why you are so disgruntled.

So you think McCort (Johnstown All Stars) vs Portage is fair? Explain why.
Trust me I will complete it. I love the game and want to get all I can out of it (academics and football)

As for the Mccort kids i do not know, Greene and Julock chose to go to BC. Trust me we dont get any perks(like people have told me), or anything different from any other students at other schools. Actually if you play football you are usually challenged more to have your academic assigments done before the assigned time. Supposedly Greene was going to go to CC his sophomore year and then chose to go to BC, for an education(if you really dont believe me then ask him, cause then i dont know why). Julock went to catholic school in nanty glo for 4 years prior to high school. 99% of the kids that i played with went to catholic school with me from 1st - 8th grade

I know of kids that have done the reverse. They are from blacklick and went to CC, but usually you never here about them.

I agree our 4-6 record was not good, but i did everything i possibly could to make it better(its tough for an offensive lineman to make an impact). I am not disgruntled about them having good seasons. I know many of the kids that played last year and some that play this year, and i congradulated them for a good season last year. I just cannot stand the people (usually in town) that think no matter what Portage is the best. They fail to look outside the box, and see that there are so many teams that portage does not play in D6 that I believe they would lose to. I would have so much more respect for the portage football program if they would leave the westpac, and move to the heritage or icc. When to play half of your games against teams that dont even have 25-30 kids on the team its a bit ridiculous.

Again about mccort i dont really know. I do know that they have a great team and have played well all season. If the students chose to go there then thats where they wanted to go to school. These kids go there for an education (thats why i did). They want to get a great education. I know that they could get an education at their public school, but a catholic school really does push academics, trust me. No schools recruit, that is a crazy idea. People are just mad that their team lost to a catholic school. Thats really all it is. Rumors.

When did the Gerber kid who is now at The Citadel come to BC to play? Was he a CC kid originally and then moved on to BC?

Pudge, I'll give you a great example and it's one of your current teammates. Scott Lewis went to Forest Hills from K-8. Then he DECIDED to go to McCort. He single handidly won the D6 Championship for McCort. You played against him, he was great. Well he got the chance to DECIDE where to go to school. Most kids do not have the chance to DECIDE to go to Forest Hills or Blacklick or public schools. You live there, you go there. So, we can say that BC may not recruit (but I know better), but can we agree that it's not fair, especially at the single A level. Teams are not playing with an equal opportunity.

I wish the Merriman kid at McCort would have had the option to DECIDE to go to Forest Hills. I bet Don Bailey could have helped him (recruit) make his decision.

Do what New Jersey does, public playoffs and private playoffs. I wonder why they do that???

I did not know that about Scott. He was a very very good player, but he didnt win it single handidly, though he had a great impact on them winning it.
I am never going to change your mind on the recruiting idea so i am not even going to try. You have somehow found yourself on some kind of catholic school recruiting conspiracy.
One thing, all the students (no matter where you live) can choose to go to school where they want. They just have to pay for tuition (its the same at catholic schools). Instead they choose to go for free.

Maybe we should have a public vs private playoff and the winner of both play each other. Then we would only have to here this recuiting stuff for only a week instead of an eternity.

Are you a Ranger fan?
