garrett lucas is staying at westmont and i heard he is sending tapes and letters out to colleges and is getting letters in the mail.

If Luke Runk gets anywhere near the size of his brother Craig, watch out Ron Zook and JoePa....and maybe Wannstedt. Runk is slapped together already and if he works his tail off in the weight room for 3 more years.....good lord. 4.3 speed, quickness, explosiveness. D1 Schools should be ashamed if they pass this kid up.

Put Runk behind Lucas and TD everyplay.. If u look westmonts Keklak rushed for over 1200 yards and over 1000 was one garrett lucass side he pulled cut block and pancaked his way for outstanding lineman and Runk for outstanding HB

Lucas has recieved letters from many schools but mostly from lower levels. a few major schools have inquired about him though and he does get a ton of inivites to major combines. also he is sending letters and tapes out so this could get the attention of bigger schools. but we cant forget both are only sophmores and have even better years ahead. scary right?

Lucas Runk is a very good back. He has shown what he can do at a top-notch level. He will be recruited. It just won't be at a reallly high level. If Hollywood wasn't a major recruit, Lucas won't be either. There's nothing wrong with that. Lucas is an amazing talent for the area and he still has room to improve, which is amazing. runk runs a 4.3? I'd like to see that. He was almost run down by geyer (FH) from the opposite side of the field and I'm positive he's not in the 4.3 range or even 4.4. The kid had an outstanding season and is a hell of a back but let's please keep this in perspective. He is no division-1 atlete, and he does not have 4.3 speed.

first of all this kid is a sophmore. His coach has faith in him to line him up in multiple positions to get the ball to him.
He punts and returns on special teams. He is a good player everywhere on the field he plays.

I compared him to three guys who were similar as far as talent and helping there team. He has a lot of time left. I dont care who sent him a letter, I enjoyed watching him play.

It's one thing to speculate, but playing and staying in a major D-1 football program is a whole other entity. I have to admit I never saw the kid play before the D-6 championship, and the kid put on a hell of a show. Add to it that he's just a sophomore and that's phenomenal in my eyes.

But my point is that there are so many other factors than just running fast and scoring touchdowns that go into become a high level collegiate football player. And this isn't just for Runk, this is for all aspiring players. I want to know what the kid's mentality is...is he a leader? Do his teammates respect and like him? I want to know what his work ethic is like...people always say kids "get in the weight room" over the winter, but how much do they really push themselves? I want to know if this kid is an athlete...having an off-season can be beneficial to train, but does he play other sports (basketball, baseball, wrestling, etc.)? I admire the kids that play and have success in multiple sports more than just one. I want to know what the kid's grades are like...because if a player is intelligent and more importantly can discipline himself to do well in his classes that usually reflects how well he will handle himself both on and off the field in college.

So many kids seem to have their eyes set on "going D-1" and playing at a major university, but forget about all the hard work that must be done first to get there and then to stay there. From my perspective Runk's off to a heck of a first step, and I hope he keeps progressing properly on his way to becoming a phenomenal football talent. I personally am cheering for him, for every successful top level collegiate player is a tribute to the good programs and good football being played here in our area.
