Quite the opposite actually. Coach Bailey's base offense is the Pro-I, which is what every Forest Hills football player is taught at the Junior High level. Years where he hasn't run the I are the exception.

To continue Lakers list
7. Cody Gallaher/Eric Trout (2002)
8. Ryan Minor (2001)
9. Jesse Scott (2000)
10. Derek Bailey (1999)
11. Justin Beyer (1998)
12. Dan Felix (1997)
13. Dave Papinchak (95-96)
14. Lance McGough (93-94)
15. Tim Baumgardner (91-92)
16. Mike Leventry (90-91)
17. Somebody Help 87-89 ( Was Chunta here?)
18. Donny Meier (Mid 80's)

No offense here Laker...but it doesn't sound like you are old enough to have watched the LHAC during the late 80's/90's when CC, PC were AAA and always very tough, Bedford in the Hay Day, Heights was a MUCH better (6-3 ish) and physical.

Maybe it is the nature of the passing game now that football has evolved into, but I don't see the physical teams that I used to watch consistently on Friday nights.

OP, I should have been clearer with what I meant. I figured the Kostan references would reveal it. I meant more of the play calling/scheme was different. He used to run his fullback as much as the tailback. That leads to inflated stats along with the decline in competition. Kostan rushed for 1,000 yards from the fullback position one year, and I think the tailback had 600 or so. As for formations, there's been years when he's used the double slot/wing(2003 comes to mind, 2001 with Minor and Blanchetti I believe) and I'v seen it a couple more times. What I was trying to get at was that there wasn't always this primary runner position we've seen as of late, although it's happened before.

I've been a fan since the early 90's. I remember most of these guys and have heard all of the stories/legends about the rest!

If you go back to the mid to late '90's, you can see just how tough FH's competition was in the LHAC:
1) Westmont was extremely tough duing that time period when Fetzer was the coach. FH played them for the district 6 championship in 1994, and Westy was undefeated during the regular season the next year. Very good teams until at least 2001.
2) Did anyone really want to play Bedford during those years? Another tough team then, year in and year out.
3) Somerset had just come off some big seasons then. Were 8-0 when FH beat them in the last regular season game in 1991.
4) Cambria Heights played FH in the LHAC Championship game after the regular season on Portage's field in 1993. CH was QUITE representative for the next 5 or 6 years.
5) PC was always tough in those days
6) CC was entering the McKavish era about 1994. Were good for many years in those days. CC and PC were AAA back then.
7) Vo-Tech was about to slide downward in the mid-90's. FH beat them 18-0 and home in 1994. Had a 6-0 halftime lead.
8) Ligonier was not bad, especially in the years Dallas Wharton ran for them. Got a full ride to Temple.
9) Chestnut Ridge with Jeff Baer was a good team. CR beat FH in 1997.
Johnstown in those days was wallowing in the WPIAL. McCort didn't enter the LHAC until around 1995, but they were always good. No Bishop Carroll in those days.
So you can see just how tough the FH runningbacks had it years ago. Now you have Westmont 1-3, Somerset 0-4, Bedford 1-3, etc etc. Not to take anything away from FH's recent backs, but there's really NO good way to compare backs from different era's.

Ligonier was very good in the mid 80's. The Dallas Whorton years, (the early 90's) not as much

Well, like I said, go back about 15 years and compare to today. Don't know much about Ligonier in the '80's, but will take your word for it that they were good.

Would have to agree that the talent 15 years ago was much better Moldo. But do you think the talent has dropped tremendously as of recent too? like from 07- now?

O.G.- Good list and memory. One hard runner you left out, mid to late 90's- Ryan Ford. Same time as Danny Felix??

Ryan Ford was pre-state championship game. Dan Felix was more like '96 and '97.
