this will be a good year for returning starters for windber, north star, shade and township. small amount of seniors left last year. all four will be senior laden and should make for a good season.

Watched both of Carroll's scrimmages and they did not look too good. Barzdo is good but sure about the line. Sponsky has a tough start with Westmont, McCort and Forest Hills!!

Then what you are saying is Johnstown will be a force, because Clearfield lost darn near everything from last year. They really only return 3 kids that played a lot. If they win D9AAA, its because there are really no good teams in D9AAA.

You are correct, they lost a lot. But they have an outstanding coach and Frye at qb, they'll be there, aided by the fact that Punxsys' qb transfered to Indiana, not sure what Bradford has. But whoever it is will be an underdog to Johnstown.

Bradford may well have been better than Clearfield last year, the way D9AAA is run is a joke. They all have a bye week and two teams play in a championship game. Bradford went 8-2 against some really good competation last year and didn't get a chance.

They return quite a bit, but another site says they only have about 30 kids out, and for a big school, thats not much.

Punxsy, in the KSAC, is just sitting back and having a good time, some of the small schools in that league are really poor. They really have a two or three game schedule. They could have team that would go 3-6 in the Luarel Highlands that will be 7-2. In general, they play what is closer to a WestPac type schedule.

I mean, I'm not knocking Portage because they are a pretty good single A program, but put them in the LHAC every year, and do you think they go undefeated very often?

If Portage was in the LHAC they'd struggle to make the playoffs. This year for example, I'd see them going 4-5 or 3-6 depending on which two teams they wouldn't play.

Oh we'd struggle big time in the LHAC, and i'm a Portage guy saying this. But I still don't get why everyone always wants to throw us in the LHAC ??? I mean we are a pretty successful program but I just don't get why WE would be the one that usually everyone singles out of the WestPac to join. I know JD you're well versed on enrollment numbers, but I really don't think people realize how small Portage is, including compared to the the rest of the WestPac schools we are not close to the top. So why not throw in North Star or Windber they're the biggest 2 schools and they both have soccer as well, which we don't.

I'm well versed in enrollment numbers, and in at least half of Portage's games they will be the smaller school. People confuse the fact that because Portage has 60 kids on the team and they are good, that they must be a big school. Not the case whatsoever. I know where you are coming from. Portage is a very small school.

Ferndale is a bigger school than Portage. I'd be willing to bet that half the people on here wouldn't know that.
Ferndals has 30 kids on their team. It is what it is.

So say no more, if you are going strictly off numbers, Ferndale should be in the LHAC, not Portage.

It has nothing to do with size. If you want to say that portage is a good team, then put them in the lhac and see how that goes. That is the reason why people want portage in.
