Re: Pat Chambers is a beast!
You get 13 scholarships in a given Basketball season, Right?
Gibbs, Robinson,Woodall,Zanna,Taylor,Moore,Epps,Wright, Patterson. 9 returning players.
So they can bring in FOUR recruits.
John Johnson
Durand Johnson
Malcolm Gilbert
Jaylen Bond
Khem Birch
You don't think someone needed "forced out"? How in the Hell was Pitt going to swing having 14 players on scholarship this season, answer me that.

Re: Pat Chambers is a beast!
....Considering case closed, I see you're continuing on with your theory. Here's one for you. First though, here is Bond's statement to the media when he annunced his transfer: Post Gazette March 31, 2011
...."I would like to announce that I have decided to de-commit from the University of Pittsburgh in favor of attending a prep school next fall. While I look forward to playing basketball at the division 1 level, I feel that, as someone who is only 17 years of age, an additional year of development will allow me to enter my freshmen year of collge better prepared to contribute at a high level from the start. I have great respect and appreciation for the University of Pittsburgh, the coaching staff and the players, and thank them for their belief in me. The decision was made after alot of thought by both myself and my family, and I am confident it is the correct one".
....NOW, everybody knows that when Khem Birch verballed to Pitt, he was a junior and would not be coming to Pitt until the fall of 2012. BUT his school status changed and it was announced that he would be coming to Pitt a year earlier, in 2011. This was a problem for Pitt, who already had 13 scholarships promised to the team for that year. Birch put them ONE scholarship over the limit. Dixon knew of the dilemma, but wasn't alarmed at the time. Gibbs wasn't sure yet if he was going pro, and two of his recruits had yet to qualify for 2011. Time would tell what would happen.
....In the mean time, Bond hears about Birch coming and begins to sweat it out. Considering he wanted playing time immediately as a freshman, this did not sit well with him. With Birch in the line-up, along with Robinson, Zanna, Taylor etc in the mix, Bond saw his chances of playing right away diminish greatly. It was BOND who couldn't handle to coming of Birch. Too many vying for the same position regarding playing time. Sooooo.....Bond whimped out. So on March 31, 2011, LONG before he would have to show his stuff in practice and compete for a position on Pitt's team, he bails out, and decides to go the prep school route. This, of course, solved a problem for Jamie Dixon. HOWEVER, it was ENTIRELY Bonds decision to not face the music at Pitt and take the easy way out.
....When Bond gave his statement to the press, he did not badmouth Pitt. Instead he had nothing but praise for Dixon and Pitt. Dixon even told him he wanted him to stay committed to Pitt. So for anyone to say that Bond was forced out, it just simply isn't true. It did solve a problem for Dixon, and nobody knows what Dixon would have done if Bond would have stayed. BUT, the situation solved itself, and that's all that needs be said. Allegations that Dixon forced Bond off the team and to relinquish his scholarship so another would have it is, are unfounded.
....And by the way, I see where Billy Oliver has quit the Nits halfway thru his junior year. How convenient for Chambers who can now have that scholly for Jeter. See how things work out?

El Doucho is in another pointless argument that 99.9% of people would disagree with him on.
Happens everywhere and you are the only one that feels the need to argue that point. When does your unemployment run out?

Re: Pat Chambers is a beast!
And I figured you would know Doucho that Billy Oliver announced his retirement opening up another scholarship for the Nittany Lions.
Re: Pat Chambers is a beast!
I just read that Billy Oliver is going to be some kind of assistant, like a graduate assistant, with the Nits for his senior year. Sounds like Chambers is creaning again. He gives Oliver some kind of made-up position and will use his scholly for a different player next year. And you guys don't believe Bond left on his own??? Unbelieveable.

Re: Pat Chambers is a beast!
It's a shame everyone can't play by the rules like the Pitt Panthers do. It would be interesting to see if every player from the Ralph Willard era was kept when Ben Howland took over at Pitt. I have no idea why you care about Penn State basketball so much when Penn State's own alumni don't.
Re: Pat Chambers is a beast!
Obviously SOMEBODY cares about PSU basketball. After all, where did this topic come from? I just want to set them straight. And while I'm at it, just want to set a few things straight about Pitt basketball. There is NO way Dixon forced Bond to give up his scholly, and that's all there is to it. Getting Crimson to admit otherwise is like getting him to admit that BM has a unfair advantage over public schools when it comes to athletics. Guys like him see only what they want to see. Despite the proof I have given, he STILL is in a world of his own. And now abpk chimes in by saying 99.9% disagree with me. Well, they are the ones who can't see the forest for the trees. Read my posts. All Crimnson knows is, Birch showed up so Bond must have been forced out. Unbelieveable. And you guys side with HIS explanation? I gave a rational scenario to what happened to Bond based on proof in black and white. Check it out again.

Re: Pat Chambers is a beast!
Because any other logical person would understand and agree with my explanation.
OK lets say Bond doesn't opt to go to Prep School on his own, What is your all knowing explanation as to what was going to happen next with our 14 committed players? Please, I'd love to know.

Re: Pat Chambers is a beast!
What if?????????? What if what????? What if Gilbert Brown doesn't miss that foul shot against Butler? The scenario you just brought up NEVER materialized. So why even think about it. It didn't happen and that ends it. The point is, Bond bailed out on Pitt BEFORE he even had ONE official practice because he could not face the music when Birch arrived. And that was that. Call it luck for Dixon. Call it what you want. It....Didn't....Happen.

Re: Pat Chambers is a beast!
It DID happen, Jaylen Bond left. Now how and why or who decided his leave is in question. I just don't buy the kid left on his own accord, but again I just realized I don't care anymore. Bond or Birch aren't Panthers anyway you look at it. And I just don't care about either kid.
