Manfred that is the most stupid comment about Pugh's hitting ever posted. The kid has hit bombs out of almost every field in this area since he has been 14 not to mention off of good pitchers also. Now people are just knit picking at the kid.

No, he didn't say he was bad. He just said he wasn't as good as a guy that got drafted in the first round and is the everyday Catcher for the Cincinnati Reds.

I think Pugh is a fine player, and the scholarship to Binghamton is warranted.

Looking at some other recent LHAC players,

Is he better than George Roberts who was the MAC player of the year and played in CWS?
Is he better than Colin Harrington who started at RF for a season for a top 25 program in Virginia?
Is he better than Austin Urban who got drafted?

You tell me.

They are all different types of players.

Urban was a very good HS player, but like the majority of draftees, it hasn't exactly worked out for him.
Harrington was a SS in HS, went on to a top tier program and found himself playing in some big spots, for a big team.
Roberts was also a HS SS, but found himself as one of the better 1B in college baseball last season.
Pugh is a good HS Pitcher, he has a good bat, and he too, could do very well at the college level.

College/Pro scouts are looking for different things, from different positions. That is why all four of those guys have/had different careers.

The thing about hype is that you are judged, fairly or not, based upon it. I can't argue with what Manfred said, although the delivery could have been better. Physical strength and a long swing will definitely generate power against average/below-average high school pitching. When you try to muscle good pitchers you are very vulnerable. But, I also agree with Crimson. Different kids have different skills, and should be judged accordingly. There are still a few out there who have yet to blossom that might surprise you.

I agree everyone is different and unfortunately as an athlete you are judged pretty hard. That's life and athletes have to get used to the criticism. However, on the road Jextin has seen 10x better pitching (90+) and he still hits well. Last year he was 16yrs. old and had 30 intentional walks. He's a young senior he still has a ton to learn and he is looking forward to that in college. He doesnt think he is better than anyone else and he respects the players and coaches in our area.

By the way I am not offended by anything that is posted on here about my son. I still have two more sons at home who will go through the judging process in the next few years. I was a collegiate athlete I know the deal. Anytime you are good at something you get dissected. Everyone is always watching and waiting for the screw-up or a mistake you made.

I cant make the BG game in Johnstown today so post the score. I am going to watch Seth Wagner (Mifflin) and Darian Herncane (State College) play today in Lewistown. I'll post that score later.

I applaud your son and his accomplishments. I wish FH had a couple like him. My comments as one said , sometimes lack the polish (bs) some like to see or hear. My comments also reflect the fact that he is not the second coming of Babe Ruth, and that if he keeps being over-used, like he has been, his career is going to be over sooner than later. He's not superior physically, just better than most. I hope everyone associated with the young man enjoys his skills while he's able. It is foolish to think he can do what hasn't been done before, and that is to defy medical science in order to justify a WIN for a high school baseball game. There are other kids on the team. It is a team sport, isn't it.

I find it amusing at best, when someone with a record of 3 posts and no credibility tells me what he/ she thinks is stupid. Of course they are entitled to their opinion.. There are a hell of a lot of people out there that think like I do, but most don't have the guts to say it.
