I thought it was ridiculous too and don't buy it but I've seen it in writing. No hate on Gibson he can really cover but needs to put on some weight

Yeah, a college program will have him playing at 175-180. Obviously weight doesn't bother college programs, because they know they can put weight on quickly. The thing with Givens is that he is on the slow side of outside linebackers. He may be a defensive end when it's all said and done. He reminds me a lot of Shayne Hale, a former 4 star from Gateway that struggled adapting to End in college. I think Givens will make a better transition since Altoona has him playing some End as it is. He'll need to work out of a 3 point technique once he gets to Pitt.

One of Johnstown's biggest problems is that they are a AAA team playing a AA schedule. Even when they have a good team, they can't possibly compete at the statewide level because they don't play a challenging schedule. The group from 2010-2011 sent a lot of players to the next level and they had athleticism that could compete at a high level if they were AA, but again, they ran into a AAA team in playoffs and didn't seem well prepared to deal.

Speaking of that 2011 Johnstown team does anyone know whatever happened to Dwight Andrews, Mark Watson, and that LB who went to Pitt then to Temple then to IUP? Andrews and Watson aren't currently listed on Saint Francis's roster and the other kid isn't listed on IUP's roster either. Seems like they all fell off of the map or something.

It’s the Johnstown education system. You see year in and year out kids from Johnstown go to play college football and within a year they fail out. Other schools don’t seem to have this problem on such a big scale. Allegedly there is a lot of grade fudging that happens at the school that could result in their student athletes not being prepared for the academic side of college.
Kareem Gibson has great potential just as many other players before him. If I’m not mistaken the Williams kids had multiple BCS offers as well and now he is not even playing. Hopefully Kareem doesn’t fall in the same category as some of the other standouts at Johnstown. JMO

I know that that is a problem in other sports as well. There was at least 1 basketball player that was allowed to arrive to school at 11 am everyday. Not really sure how that works...
