Full disclosure here Crimson I'm a PSU grad and obviously a fan (although my sister and two of my closest friends are Pitt grads) and I know I'm not supposed to say anything nice about the Pitt football program, which I don't understand from either side because they aren't rivals any more in my book. Having said all that if I were you (or any other Pitt fan) I would be feeling more than a little bit optomistic about this team. PC is turning his program in to Wisconsin south. He loves himself some fat guys and he is getting them in place now along the offensive line (and more than one unit it appears). In addition, I watch Conner play and he reminds me of the second coming of Ron Dayne. He is a load and PC will use him to keep beating on defenses as long as he can. It's the same formula used in Madison for years with him, Alverez, and Beilema. Throw in a stud playmaker on the outside (Boyd), good TE (Holtz), and a QB, while not spectacular, who is able to make plays with his feet and not put your defense in bad spots with the passing game and it's the Badger formula for victory for many years.
The defense appears to be at least solid, the kicking game is very good and I just looked at the schedule which is favorable to say the least (avoidung FSU, Clemson,& Louisville-someone in the ACC offices likes the Panthers). I know Herbstreit picked them to win the Coastal division and was killed for it on Twitter but after watching last night I have to say he might be right. You can't put the cart before the horse but with 2 skill guys on offense who will play on Sundays and an offensive line designed to maul people along with a scheme that will play well on the road and in bad weather and it's certainly possible the Panthers could find themselves in the ACC title game in December. Even if they don't, PC definetaly is turning the team in to one that takes on his personality and plays the way he wants the game played. I'd feel just as good about that.

Well, we must have different books haha, but yeah we're all pretty excited about Conner and Boyd. We like the offense he is building, and happy to have a little stability. The jury is out on the defense, but they made some plays last night. Just need Voytik to become a good QB, and that is something that can really make a difference in this season.
I've said 8-4 all off-season, hoping that stills happens. So far, so good.
