I agree. I think any big name coach was a pipe dream. This was the best possible hire for Pitt. He is a great Coordinator, but we do not know what kind of head coach he will be, yet. We also do not know what kind of OC he will hire. On the surface, this looks like a good hire for Pitt. I would think it would be hard not to be a better speaker and recruiter than Paul Chryst. You can typically get a pretty good vibe for a hire during the first press conference, so we will see how well Narduzzi does.
Speaking as a PSU fan,
I hated the O'Brien hire, then I heard his press conference and it was outstanding
I loved the Franklin hire. He excels at speaking and being a leader.
I heard Paul Chryst's press conference and thought he sounded like he was in over his head.
Coaching is very important in college, but being able to present yourself and sell your university is a huge part of the battle.

Narduzzi is a good pick. Despite not being a head coach he did beat out a few head coaches for the job. I think with a good OC and a higher caliber staff overall/bigger budget ect...he could do a nice job. Seems like he's better than Chryst on the outside.
Re: PITT FANS
Steve Pederson could have made that hire.
Re: PITT FANS
I too am a PSU fan (and grad) and I think it's a good hire as well. You'll never know for sure until he's actually the head coach but his track record speaks for itself. Good for players on the team and the fans (although I'm sure the Pitt fans on here would never credit PSU for a good job on anything, and in fact love the unsolicited cheap shot I think it's okay to credit the other team when they do something well). Good luck to the new coach.

knowitall, Pederson could not have made that hire. Narduzzi would have never come work for him. The word is out, the cat is out of the bag on Stevie. Great hire for Pitt. Narduzzi was top assistant in the country 2 seasons ago. His defenses have been near the top of the national rankings. He has taken (2) 2 star corners and turned them into first round draft choices.

Narduzzi would have turned down the job most likely.knowitall wrote:Steve Pederson could have made that hire.
Re: PITT FANS
Pitt replaced an offensive coordinator from Wisconsin with a defensive coordinator from Michigan State.
Yawn.

Re: PITT FANS
Just something I read today.....Just one week after the last game of his outstanding rookie season who was in the Pitt weight room at 6am this morning working out? Aaron Donald.
Just cool to see a young guy coming off such a great rookie season have that kind of work ethic.

AD is a tremendous talent. Pro Bowl as a rookie is a great honor. He's already established himself as one of the better interior linemen in football.
