But in defense of the old War Memorial.

1. 8 million isn't a lot of money, but in that case it actually looks like the money was used. All 4,000 seats were replaced the box was updated. Cosmetically it looked better.

2. 12 years ago wasn't all that long ago.

3. Given the events they hold, I think you are overstating the money the place brings in. Like when someone buys a Tomahawks tshirt, that isn't going to the arena. When someone buys a $5 ticket to watch Westmont play Deer Lakes in hockey, I mean that's not really making anyone any money.

Everyone knows 150K isn't a lot of money, but really the arena itself isn't putting the little money they have back into the place, so I don't get the disdain with local hockey fans and supporters starting the campaign to help out. It's harmless, and yet even minuscule, it is going to be helpful.

I get what you're saying as well, but take off the rose-colored glasses. 150K is like spitting in the ocean.

C'mon, it's 6 hrs. or so since the BIG announcement. Is everyone downtown partying in the streets? No further commentary? This is the biggest news since Murtha got elected. Happy Days are here again!

The 3 greatest events that ever happened- 1. Creation of human civilization in the Garden of Eden. 2. Jesus Christ died for our salvation. And 3. Johnstown wins the title of Hockeyville. (-|
