Toughest Conference in College football?

I didn't say Arkansas of Ole Miss would win the Big 10 or ACC...I think they could make a run for it in the Big East on a good year...but I think that they are better than or just as good as the middle tier of the ACC and Big 10...and they are in the lower tier of the SEC...they are just above Vandy and Kentucky

Arkansas and Ole Miss would not have had a chance of winning the Big Ten or the ACC. They would have gotten killed by the likes of Michigan, Iowa, Virginia Tech, and Miami. They also are no better than the middle tier of the Big Ten or the ACC. They might have been able to try to win the Big East (because the Big East really sucked), or had a decent showing in the Pac 10 (since beyond USC and maybe Cal, the Pac 10 sucked), but that's about it.

Ok, we did misunderstand you. But they wouldn't win any more than they do now if they were in the Big Ten or ACC. They both have two or maybe 3 bottom feeder programs that are sure wins, but that's it. They wouldn't do any better there than they would in the SEC. Maybe the top notch programs aren't quite as tough on certain years, but it's about winning games, not losing by less. The middle tiers in those two conferences are just as tough as they are in the SEC, perhaps a little tougher.

If they really want to improve their record, they could join the Sun Belt. The only real competition would be the other team and perhaps North Texas. They could win all the other Sun Belt games. lol

They might have a few minor problems with Utah and/or BYU, which is on the rise.

Utah definitely is not on the rise. When someone comes in with a new system, and that works, and then he leaves, it doesn't matter if the assistants know the offense. They'll lose 2 games this year, 3 next year, and fall back to a 7-4 or 8-3 team.

BYU is on the rise because Crowton was horrible and they have a new coach. There's no shoes to fill. Although Mendenhall is an excellent choice for coach... as far as potential Mormon head coaches go... but let's not get carried away.

Arkansas would win the Big East every year or else be #2 behind Louisville. Don't underestimate middle teams in the SEC. They play in the SEC. A strength coach down here at UNT started an argument with me over Arkansas being on the UNT schedule. He said UNT would definitely beat Arkansas, because "Arkansas sucks". Needless to say, we didn't talk too much at the gym after that.

The team on the rise that is most worth mentioning is UCLA.

I meant BYU being on the rise. Utah, they can't really get any better from last season after going undefeated and beating a 'BCS caliber' team. They're losing some really good talent, but they'd still be able to handle Arkansas.

Arkansas might be able to compete to win the Big East, but I can't see them beating some of the better teams, like Louisville, Pitt, or WVU. They'd lose at least one, if not more, of those games. But this is purely hypothetical.

UCLA got one of the best high school QBs in the nation and should be on the rise, though any season worth mentioning would be a rise after losing to Wyoming....
