i dont think joe cares if his salary is made public from what he has said in PC's. penn state cares. joe wont say what it is because he works for penn state.

why does penn state care? i think it is more of a priciple, trying to distiguish itself from a true public institution to being a semi public university. i really dont know much about that. from news articles i have read outside the post-gazette, that is the reason why penn state is trying to keep joe's salary disclosed rather than revealling the actaul figure which is reputablely modest compared to other big time college coaches.

You're either a public school or a private school. What's with the semi-public stuff? Does Juniata accept public money? Does Washington and Jefferson. Does Penn State? There is a difference. Just follow the rules, that's all.

Two Words for you guys from Crappy Valley (Bobby Bowden), a great football coach and has better players than PSU plus he tells how much money he makes and JoePa doesn't want to reveal what he makes because it is so ave. compare to other coaches around the nation for being with one school for 5000000000000000 years!

Hugh Conrad wrote an article in the Tribune-Democrat this morning. In the column, he wrote that PSU claiming that their athletic department is "self-supporting" is disingenuous because they accepted state money for the construction and expansion of Beaver Stadium, the construction of the Bryce Jordan Center, and the construction of the new baseball facility.

Not quite self-supporting.

Do we know in what context that the Penn State Athletic Department is self-sufficient? The phrase 'self supporting' as used there seems like on a day-to-day basis revenues outpace expenses.

I certainly wouldn't group huge projects like the ones you mentioned under normal operating expenses.

I thought Wannstedt's salary was listed as about $200,000 per year. Can't remember exactly. But in Hugh Conrad's article about Paterno, he surmised that Joepa was making about $2 million a year. No wonder he didn't want to leave for the NFL. And you guys thought it was because of "devotion" to the University.

Dave WannSPLAT's salary should be nothing more than a chance by his old friends for him to clear the word FAILURE from beside his name. Let's go Irish.
