Johnston wasn't there, Letang wasn't there, Mario wasn't there Fleury wasn't there, Kessel wasn't there, Dupper wasn't there, heck why not send Rutherford or Guerin?

This extends beyond Crosby. I think the entire perception of the Penguins took a hit nationally last night. NBC sent its #1 crew, Lightning sent their #1 crew, the Penguins wanted to play the "we need rest" card.

I'm sorry that doesn't fly with me. At the end of the day you are all multi million dollar athletes that play a game for a living. Organizations like the Penguins frustrate fans that work 50 hours a week at a factory and spend their little bit of spending money to pay your salaries.

That "it's our only night off in 3 nights" card seems like a pretty flimsy excuse to me. The fans weren't asking for the stars to have 25 minutes of ice time. They just wanted to see them.

NBA's Gregg Popovich routinely rests his Spurs' players on back-to-back nights and has won several titles. He even caught flack for doing it two years ago in a game on TNT vs Lebron's Miami Heat, and only lost by two points. I understand the frustration... but get over it.

If the Pens thought it was that important, they would have sent Sid. Kind of crass for the NHL to let the NBC announcers call out the Pens about it. After all, they are mutually dependent. Also, nothing like hearing the announcers talk about what a dump Johnstown is nowadays.

The Pens won. The city of Johnstown won. The War Memorial won.

Everybody wins.

Can the regular season just start so we can talk about hockey again?

I wouldn't say the pens won. I think they lost a bit of respect from some fans actually.

I think everyone is over it, just pointing out Crosby looks like a douchebag for not coming and Johnston is taking the heat for it on purpose.

I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it, I mean realistically this is the last hockey game I'll watch before the playoffs anyway. It was a great night, and I'm glad it happened to Johnstown.

The rest theory is dumb, let him rest tonight. The Consol Energy Center has seen Crosby play once or twice.

I can't believe we're making all this fuss over practice man. I mean if it was a game Crosby would have been there. But we're talking about practice. Practice.
