Re: Scores
The UHS / HC game featured two Laurel Valley grads as head coaches...Greg Page and Kevin Marabito.
Re: Scores
4th attempt: Rangers 47, BC 12. Just for 'CoffinCorner': I told you so. BTW, 40-0 halftime, subs 2nd half.
It ain't over until it's over.

Re: Scores
Portage - 41
Conemaugh Township - 21
FINAL
I know the final score doesn't show it, but an absolute piss poor effort tonight from the Mustangs. Did enough to win but ZERO motivation and gumption out there...was rough to watch for 3/4 of the game.

Re: Scores
Yes, that score is correct.
McCort played Somerset tough. The Crushers left some points out there, and the referees made an error that benefitted McCort, but either way they hung tough and made some plays.
-- Before the end of the half with seven seconds remaining the game was tied 7-7. McCort lined up for a 33 yard field goal. A referee blew his whistle so half of the McCort kids didn't block their guys, but the ball was snapped and Somerset played it out blocked the kick and would have returned it for a touchdown but they were called back. Many thought it would be halftime, but since it was an "inadvertent whistle" there was one untimed down and McCort made the kick. Tough call. If they ignored the inadvertent whistle, McCort could argue their guys stopped blocking and this way Somerset obviously had a beef. Luckily it didn't decide the game.
-- Somerset came out marched down the field and scored and took the lead 14-10. McCort marched right back and on third down Carnell Andrews was wide open not a defender within 10 feet of him and the pass was way off target, good pass it's a touchdown. McCort had to punt.
-- Somerset tacked on another score and missed the extra point to make it 20-10. McCort put together a nice drive and scored to make it 20-16 with about 8 minutes to go in the game. On Somerset's following drive they had a third and long and they threw it deep and George Coyle made a heck of a catch, and they eventually scored to set the final 27-16.
Somerset clearly the better team, McCort played a good game. Still think McCort will be a good squad the next two years. These sophomores can really play.

Re: Scores
Yes, again McCort still can't close out games. McCort is getting better, but they don't know how to close out games. Maybe next year, these players and coaching staff will be able to finish off games. There is hope, still need two tackles or better play on the defense side of the ball and special teams and if their quaterback can keep his head in the game and make the key plays and not choke, if McCort wants to take a step forward. If not, McCort will be alway a 2 to 3 game winner.

Re: Scores
Not many teams can close out games against Somerset, they just lost to a better team last night. I'm not to keen on saying a 16 year old quarterback choked the game away. He played well, just needs to value the ball a little more.
The LHAC will have a lot of turnover this offseason, McCort won't have that personnel wise. They should have a nice team next year. They cleaned a lot of the stuff up that's been killing them in previous weeks. (17 penalties against Richland, only 3 last night.) I know some don't put much weight into it, but sophomores are still sophomores. There's a noticeable difference with teams that employ seniors as their best players as opposed to teams that rely on 10th graders. Just gotta accept that they're gonna take some lumps this year. Bottom line, they should be 5-5 next season, but I can see them being a game or two better than that.
