A shame you had to type all that Lem. Rush's comparison wasn't state to state but county to county. You are trying to compare apples to oranges.

Do you have county tax figures? Are you disputing that most fed and state tax dollars go to urban and inner city areas? Do you think that's fair?

You just varified Rush's point. DC gets $6.59 return for every $1.00 paid in taxes. DC voted 91% for Kerry. Go figure. Guess they like their liberal social programs in DC.

By most, do you meant total amount or do you mean of money spent per person?

I think the point Rush was trying to make is that rural and surburban counties pay the taxes and Metro area get the tax benefits.

Once again Rush says these things, but does he have the numbers to back up his statements?

Here are some numbers...

According the election map for PA, Kerry decisively won only 7 counties ( Philly, Montgomery, Delaware, Fayette, Allegheny, Erie and Lackawanna). Those 7 counties alone (not taking into consideration the counties that Kerry marginally won) accounted for 40% of taxable income in PA for the year 2002.

Now who is paying the taxes?

runner can you do the math. Those seven counties make up over half of PA's population and the only pay 40% in taxes. The less than half in the other 60 mostly rural counties pay the other 60%.

Now go one step further. How much of the tax revenue go to those seven counties you just named? Most of if goes to Philadelphia and Allegheny.

Your numbers are proving Rush's point.

I'll throw this information into the mix....out great governor ...(LOL)...Edward G. Rendell won only two of the 67 counties when he was elected....you guessed it Philly and Allegheny.

Can I do the math? Are you guys trained to just make up numbers? Where do you get that those 7 counties make up over half of the state?

PA population: 12,365,435

The 7 counties mentioned earlier add up to 4,702,366. That comes out to 38.0% of the population.....and yet, they pay 40% of the taxes.

Maybe most of the revenue does go those counties....I don't know. But don't throw out a blanket statement without showing some proof.
