GOP Agenda

Post by southpaw »

The GOP and the president can waste no time in passing the most sweeping legislation since FDR's new deal. What to look for

1. Revamping Social Security w/ some privatization

2. Getting rid of the IRS and replacing is with a nat'l sales tax
(this might be a reach but there will be major changes in the tax code)

3. Tax cuts (marriage, child, dividend, death, etc) will be made permant
and look for!

4. Spending except for defense will be cut. There are some very
house and senate members that will demand major cuts in spending

5. Supreme Court- The major ideological battle. Over half of Americans
opposes abortion and Roe v. Wade could be in trouble. Bush will try
very hard to get 2 or 3 conservative justices on the court

6. Lastly but most important. The war on terror. Look for extreme pressure on Iran and Norh Korea. Also look for more help from Europe but not France. Germany might help some more.

Germany doesn't have enough troops to support any of our agendas, and I seriously doubt that they will help. Maybe Great Britain will continue to support us, but that's about it. Really, any leader of Europe trying to support our troops in Iraq is doing something akin to political suicide. We are very unpopular over there, and the Europeans hate our war on Iraq. We'll still be going it alone for the most part, save for a few tiny countries that most people don't even know of.

Flea: didn't say direct military aid from Germany. Other means of aid that they are already doing and will continue to do on a larger scale. Weren't you on of those that said Kerry could get French and German troops to help in Iraq? Didn't I reply that Germany doesn't have the available ground troops? NATO troops could be used or UN troops from a more concilatory UN towards the US. By help I meant economic and intelligence support.

Italy and Poland have troops in Iraq but I guess they are the bribed and coersed. Britain will remain a strong ally in Iraq and other terrorists strongholds.

Say what you will fleaflicker. Bush has four more years to continue his policies in Iraq and other terrorists states.

If you can find where I should John Kerry would actually be able to persuade those nations to help us out, then I will admit it. Until then, I believe you're putting words in my mouth. I don't think anybody could get any country in Europe right now, save Great Britain and the 'unknown nations' to help out in Iraq with military aid. Of course Germany and other countries are probably aiding us in other means, mainly just for economic reasons, not because they support it. How much would it hurt Europe to stop trading with the United States entirely, and vice versa? We're pretty interdependent on one another economy wise.

Poland is withdrawing their troops right now, and Italy's government will likely be ousted in the next election over there. If I remember correctly, 93% of Poles were against their country aiding us in Iraq.

Southpaw:

You forgot to mention a total repeal of all gun laws and the appointment of the NRA president to full cabinet status as Secretary of the Department of Personal Security. They've already got their insignia and motto: a pair of crossed nickle-plated 4 3/4 inch Colt single action Army revolvers above these words: "Shoot'em if you got'em!"

Ah, a bitter liberal, knew there had to be a few out there. 4 more years, 4 more years, 4more years, 4 more years, ha,ha. Now all we need to do is get Ginsberg, O'connor, and Rehnquist to keel over and get a couple good judges in there. Maybe Ashcroft, Ted Nugent, and umm how about Heston. That'll do it.

Not bitter -- just sad -- and getting sadder by the hour as the graceful winners have become a bit full of themselves.
