McCort plays great defense, but they will have their hands full next Saturday. If you guys think Balog and Stephenson are tough, wait until you see Jacob Iati from York Catholic. He will easily be the best player McCort has faced all season.

For those wondering where that game will be played, it will be somewhere in District 3. The PIAA bylaws state that in the first round, games will be played in the same District as the team on the top of each bracket.
come on comparing eras a difference of a couple months?

analyzing this fictional matchup

O'Connor at 6-5 would be able to score at least 25-30 points and grab 10-12 rebounds

Mike Cruz as well would be getting rebounds and keeping the Westy post players out of the paint

Trotz and Young are alright but O'Connor is on a much higher level

Balog with Lewis on him has trouble scoring put the taller and faster Wadley on him equals same results

Stephenson would still hit his shots but eventually would tire out to Spangler's relentless D

Watson and Varga would be similar to this years matchup pretty even

So Westmont would battle but still The Crushers of 06-07 would be 10 point winners

open for arguement

and back to a thing that was mentioned
I never ever said the refs were the reason why we lost the D6 Semifinals(our lack of making foul shots and some layups and poor passing) or any game to Westmont i said they got some favorable calls but they would have won without them

so i know not to blame officiating
No way. 06-07 Westmont beats 05-06 McCort by 10 points with non-Forest Hills officials and by 55 points with Forest Hills officials. Stephenson hits 90% on 3s, Young wins the head-fake competition and 6'3" Balog and 6'2" Trotz somehow manage to make up for that massive 2" and 3" difference. The relentless and tireless Westmont defense has McCort's hands on their hips five minutes into the game. After game, McCort fans start chanting "we have cheerleaders." Touche.

Wadley with his hands on his hips cause hes tired of adam watson and jordan demarco slapping at him?hahaha that is good

McCort- much more athletic of a team then Westmont im sorry

Westy could shoot in this game but would be tired Wadley and Spangler would be the 2 most athletic players on the court hands down

and the ultimate student section would reply with the ever popular "Swimming Swimming Swimming!"

i must agree with docoogie...young is one of the toughest and scrapiest kids i have ever seen play. stephensons shot and balogs shot, if both on, will be untouchable since i have yet to see a player, this year or last, shoot to their prime in tis district. trotz and demarco will pull their weight in their own way like they always do. and when it comes down to it watson is one of the best athletes i have ever had the pleasure to watch. ever sicne he played football in middle school up thru high school before he focused on basketball. he has speed and sees a court better then any point guard i have seen in a long time. watson would shut down varga like he usually does. it would perhaps turn out to be a close game, but with watson controlling the play, westmont would come out on top. PERIOD.

i just would love to see you mccort lovers admit your wrong

Holy all over the place BC posters!!!

'Bout the only sensible posts in last 20 was
Westmont beats 05-06 McCort by 55 points with Forest Hills officials.
...jk...a bit!

Re the whole BM vs WH thing, Vman has been clear all yr. in stating that WH is a very good team ( 3 very good guards, well coached & they get great production from the other 3 role players)....from outset of yr. vman has also stated that BM, in all honesty, is not that good of a BB team.....
yet they ae very gritty, offensively challenged but play relentless defense. Their record speaks for itself and they have actually overachieved, a tribute to their toughness....if YC is a legit top 10 team in state BM would be lucky to lose by only 10, IMO.

And Dok, I think we all, or at least some of us, know what User6 is referring to.....politics.....you come back with F Rizzo? which has been covered numerous times?? I hesitate to respond again (I know, like and respect this young man & his family) but family members have confided to me Frank's shortcomings as a rb & if you saw his start vs FH his senior yr. at Trojan stadium, you would not ask this question!! Likewise, if you watched BM's backfield the last two yrs. there was no question that 2 better backs were ahead of him!!!

BTW, McCort with Cruz & AW vs WH no contest!!!! MC kills them underneath & AW shuts down whomever he guards as the two handle most of scoring load!!

Why did Balog & Joey S. see so little time last yr.? Does not their 27-0 record this yr emphasize fact that they were better than players ahead of them?

Look what you started Vman.....

All good points vman.

Here's my take.

Balog did get a lot of minutes last year. He was the leading scorer last year if I am not mistaken. As for Stephenson, I know the kid fairly well. all I can say is that everyone develops differenty as a player. Maybe he struggled with the system on offense or defense, who knows. I saw him struggle in certain situations last year. He wasn't shooting as well either. I know one thing, he worked his tail off to be ready for his senior year. Boy has it paid off.

Sometimes in a program, people have to wait their turn. The very good ones make the most of their chance. Such is the case with Joe Stephenson.

Best of luck to Joe and the rest of the Hilltoppers tonight as they take on the Blairsville Bobcats.

All valid points Vman McCort had a solid backfield. Yet, last year's team was underachieving. I blame it on not using the team's talent to the fullest. Alright maybe FR is not the better RB, but could of got on the field somehow. I mean if a Navy coach could get him on the practice field how can he not get on the field for a LH team? Just my take. Another thing, since you have obviously seen the games, should #10 have been the QB in 05?? In my opioion, politics and/or favoritism/nepotism can happen anywhere including Windber, Westmont, and McCort.

Ill admit when im wrong when im actually wrong

Wadley can shut down Balog easily just Lewis has been doing it all year

Young's scrapy and gets rebounds but Mike Cruz isnt just 6"4 he happens to be 275 pounds!!!!!Pete O'Connor was the best High School basketball player in this confrence in the past ten years im sorry but the 3 Posts on Westmonts team are not even half as a good as Pete theres just no way im sorry

and on the whole Westmont playing politics

Nick Myzek In my opinion was the best player ive seen on Westmont the past 7-8 years and coming out of 8th grade was one of the top players in all the area.....the question is.....Did he start on his Freshmen team?

No. Why? because he wasnt from Westmont Middle School. Why didn't Joesy Stephensen play until this year? Because he didnt go to Westmont his whole life.

Crimson09Crazy, You are exactly what your name says if you think that way. Roman doesn't play the politic game at Westmont. He plays who he thinks will give him the bes chance to win basketball games. They don't win 20 games a year by accident. Roman's been there 9 years. Tonight they will play in the D6-AA Championship game for the 6th time in those nine years and will be looking to win it all for the 4th time.

Mezyk started from the day he set foot on campus. In fact, Roman tried to move him up to start varsity as a freshman, but the school would not allow him.

The big question is why you Crushers so obsessed with what is going on at Westmont?

He still didn't start on the Westmont Freshmen team
