I think they should re-draw up D5 and D6 into like an East-West thing and divide the districts evenly...something like this:

I like this idea a lot. The only thing I don't like is it would take away the PM vs Northern Cambria game. That has turned into a really good rivalry. Not just in Football but also Basketball (girls and boys) and Volleyball. Many of these kids play softball and baseball together and a friends as well as rivals.

There are 32 teams in these two districts. I would like to see them combine again into four divisions with 8 teams.

Somehting along the lines of that swtich things for travel. i did not google map these to be precise.
Each team plays 7 division teams than rotates 1 team in the other 3 divisions each year.

Top 16 go to playoffs. top 2 in each division then 8 wild card spots by records.

You can still keep rivalry games on your regular season schedule. For example; Bellwood-Antis (A) is in the ICC. However; they still play Tyrone (AA) every year who is in the MAC. Last year and this year they are playing Richland (AA) at the end of the regular season who's in the LHAC. In years past B-A has also played Lewistown (AAA) who's now apart of Mifflin Co. HS (AAAA) and Curwinesville (A) D9. I would still say keep your local rivalries and traditional matchups just come playoffs divide it up this way. That way it is more balanced and every team has a fair shot. Because I know there have been some years where Portage would have won D5 but was eliminated early by BA or BC/BM in D6 playoffs.

you can't combine districts. It would mess up the PIAA bracket. You need a D5 and D6 winner. You could make an east west or north south, but you need 2 winners.

How do we get the two of you on the D5/D6 committees? I know they wouldn't accept you because THESE both make sense. From reading newspaper articles the last couple years things like this have been suggested but there are some long time coaches with a lot of pull that are stopping it. Like I said it makes sense for the schools and the KIDS!!!!!!!

HAHAHA things that make sense usually don't get accepted. It would make sense, and I'm not knocking D5 talent but you have 9 D5 teams...and 23 D6 teams...lets use Portage as an example...Portage is in D6, lets just say they have an awesome year (they usually do) and go 9-0 win the Westpac and beat a bunch of top D5 teams (since they play a predominately D5 schedule). They go into D6 Class A playoffs as the #2 seed out of an 8 team playoff bracket in a 23 team district...they meet up with B-A in the semi-finals and B-A beats them (has happened twice to Portage in last 7 years) and Portage is eliminated. However; over in D5 with 9 teams, its a 4 or 6 team playoff and 2 of those teams that Portage beat handedly in the regular season play in the D5 finals, lets say Windber and North Star...how is it fair that Portage who is geographically on the border between D5 and D6, but plays a predominately D5 schedule and who no doubt would be the best team in D5 but is forced to play in a more crowded D6??? So you have a weaker team (***just using these teams as an example not saying they are actually weaker) Windber/North Star that gets to experience what it feels like to win a district championship and make it into state playoffs when you could divide districts evenly since a lot of teams from D5/D6 play each other in the regular season anyway, to make it fairer giving more teams who are deserving a chance at competing for a district title. Hmmm makes senses huh??? HAHAHAHA
