Went to McCort/Johnstown game. Johnstown won 38-14. Some observations

-- Exree Loe is the real deal. Kareem Gibson was an unbelievable talent for Johnstown, but I already think Loe is better. He's incredibly fast and impacts the game a lot more. He caught 8 passes and just flat out went up and got the ball over the small McCort DB's. He ripped away a two point conversion on one on one coverage. Johnstown just sets him up on an island on D, man coverage and he just locks guys down. McCort had a big 40 yard pass inside the 10 and Loe tracked the kid down and ripped the ball away, and it was a big turning point in the game. I can see why Pitt jumped on him early, wouldn't surprise me to see Penn State offer him in the next week or so.

-- Terrell Jones for Johnstown is a very nice HS back, and he's built like a D1 player. Not sure if he'll get that offer though, being hurt last year put him behind. Nonetheless a very good HS back. Adds a dimension to Johnstown they didn't have last couple of years.

-- Jeremy Updyke doesn't get the attention he deserves. He threw for 290+ yards and he was much more mobile than he was in years past. Avoided sacks, kept plays alive, and made some big time throws. He's playing like a confident senior QB.

-- I still think McCort is showing promise, and they held their own in the first half. McCort has some speed that was able to run with Johnstown. Carnell Amdrews came down with a cramp and never made it back into the game, but he made some plays. As did Andre Nash. McCort is better than they were the past two years.

-- Levi Cook for McCort is so much better than last year, and coaching is a big reason why. McCort has some former Somerset coaches and they seem to execute the offense pretty well. And with Cook being 6-2 200, and mobile, He does a nice job orchestrating McCort's offense.

-- The game was close in the first half and McCort didn't back down. Johnstown eventually overpowered them in the second half. But going forward I think McCort can win 3-4 more games. Westmont, Central Cambria, and Penn Cambria all look beatable and I think Richland will be a toss up. They'll have a tough time with Somerset, Bedford, and BG. They aren't there yet.

-- As for Johnstown moving forward, they can have a big season. You have two very good seniors with Updyke and Jones leading the offense. And they make it a point to get the ball to Loe, and I thought they didn't do that with Gibson at times last season. They still have the big 3 in the LHAC on the schedule, but I think Johnstown is equipped to hang with and even beat those teams.

Crimson, sorry but have to disagree
Ian Weizoric was absolutely unstoppable last night against PC. They could not tackle him and had Bailey ridden him like a horse he easily could have had 6 TD's but this does not make him D1, it simply means that he is better than his comp. His chances of being a D1 RB, well lets just look how that worked out for John Rizzo.
Chadbourn dominated CC last night so he must be a D1 player also.
Lowe may be very talented and it looks like he will be a D1 player( Dont forget Penna admitted that him getting the verbal had more to do with his dad getting him to the right camps than anything else) . but McCort does not have any one close to him to say that he is dominant based on him trashing them and CC and BC may not be what impresses Narduzzi.

I mean seriously in week one you are already posting about how Cecere is going to be a really good player after one game where he did not even pass in the second half, just because a player beats your Crushers so dont have to blow them up on here.

Aj Alexander from Altoona went to FSU based on what he did in summer camps and got to finish his career at mighty Saint Francis. Scott Corson went to Pitt too, how did that go

Johnstown has beaten 3 bottom teams from their conference, let's see how all of these D1 prospects do against Bedford, Somerset and BG, I agree with your last paragraph. Gibson was not used appropriately last year, but Hawkins being there means that they now have some football smarts on the sideline.

To be honest, I'm not sure what point you are trying to make or what I said that has been wrong.

1. I've never called Ian Wieczorek a Division One player.
2. To earn a Division One scholarship and be a good Division 1 player are two different things. Rizzo did everything he needed to do to earn his scholarship to Temple, things didn't work out. No reason to throw his college career under the bus like that.

A lot of kids had good games last night across the country. I've never called Chadbourn a D1 player, though.

Considering he already has a verbal commitment to Pitt, I don't think him being a D1 player is in question. But of course he hasn't been really tested yet, does that mean him dominating thus far any different? He's going out and having his way with his first three opponents. Obviously the competition will pick up, but Loe is very good as a High School Football player right now, and he has done enough in camps to earn the offers.

Adam Cecere is a 6'4" 200 pound freshman that throws a nice ball and moves well, and I'm not the first person to think he's going to be very good. To say I'm hyping him up because he beat McCort is such an absurd statement. You're right, he didn't even do much in the McCort game, so I don't see why I would hype him up based off that performance alone. I was looking bigger picture with him, and he has all the tools that are going to translate in this league.

This is where I get lost, what does this have to do with anything?

The Saturday special at Price Field might have gotten Richland. Hilltoppers up 41-40 with a few seconds left. Westmont went for 2 to win the game.

1st off, Congrats Westy! I honestly did not see that coming.

2nd off, I was at the Tyrone Huntingdon game last night and am still scratching my head at how little the cats used their best player, Jon Wagner, that kid is a beast running the ball, and even early on Huntingdon was trying to force a pass game that did way more harm then good. Anyone else there have some insight or observations themselves?

It's a great win for Westmont! I didn't mean to make it sound like it wasn't.

I don't feel it would of made a difference in the game to play him any more than they did. It was obvious that even a young Tyrone team was to much for them.
