Something doesn't add up here.  IF the family lives in Johnstown, were they paying tuition to Central?

It's my understanding if a parent works for a school district, then the kids are able to attend the school for free.  I believe that situation has happened at Johnstown recently.

Does McCort offer this?

No, sorry I wasn't clear. The father teachers in Martinsburg still.

The family just moved to Johnstown recently. The boy stayed back and lived with family members which is how he still attended Central.

Its funny how the area works. I was blocked to play in WA when i moved there my senior year because they don't allow any transfers to play for atleast one year.

It is just surprising BM is getting a good team and a top player from another team mid season switches to BM.

This just in Carol Cecere hired as girls basketball coach at Bishop Mccort.  Adam Cecere to transfer to BM after playing 4 games as QB at Forest Hills.  Transferring because he wants to ride to work with mom.  Nothing to do with athletics. 
Hoopfan, I think that there are a lot more people unhappy with this transfer than Manfred.   For one, what about the player who lost his position on Mccort's team so that Benton can now be a starter.  If Benton wanted to go to Mccort, no one would have cared if he would have just started the season there, but he played the field , playing 7 on 7 with both teams through the summer, then decides to stay with grandma until he gets in trouble and jettisons to Mccort.

On a teacher's salary and the $3000 coaching salary, paying $7000 to go to McCort is really no big deal for the family in question.

Article VI - TRANSFERS, RESIDENCE, AND RECRUITING
Section 1 - Definition of Transfer
Paragraph C - Change of Residence of Parent(s)

The student (1) has moved with and resides with the student’s natural or, if legally adopted, the student’s adoptive parents, or with either parent and (2) has transferred to a PIAA member school in the public school district in which the student now resides, or to a Private School.

If both Principals sign the waiver with no attestation that the transfer was "materially motivated in some way by an athletic purpose", the transfer is rubber-stamped (usually via e-mail in time sensitive situations) by the District Committee.  The timing of the transfer (i.e. in season / out of season) is irrelevant according to the PIAA By-Laws.  It would be difficult (and somewhat ridiculous) to suggest "athletic purpose" in this case with the parents residing in the Johnstown area.

Not true crimson...... I think plenty of people would be up in arms. Players switching schools and teams at the same time is a big deal. Private or Public.

Apparently, the District VI Chairman and Principal of Central High School is not one of those people.

It would be a big deal if the family were still physically residing in the Spring Cove School District while "renting" a residence in the Johnstown area and claiming residency there, but we know that never happens.
